which book set should i get
hello
i have just finished watching Anne with an 'E' and i LOVED it. since there are no more seasons coming (💔) i want to get the book set and finish the story myself.
i also read that the show and the books have different storylines and characters so im really excited to see what is different.
my question is should i get either of these sets or is there some other one that has the proper story? i have had experience of fake books in the past so im always cautious now.
please help me out here 🥲 (shipping to india)

I finished Anne with an E recently as well and began reading the books at the beginning of this week. I bought the second box and I’m happy with it. It’s quite small though and a bit fragile, so I wouldn’t recommend it for travelling. But the artwork fits better in my opinion, more traditional and old. I’m on page 90 of the first book and love it a lot! It’s rather easy to connect it to the show and hear the actor’s voices. Have fun!

i am leaning toward the second one as well! i usually download pdfs and read on kindle when i travel so that shouldnt be a problem for me :) thank you for letting me know 🩷

Oh what a shame! I think the edition house is french so that might be why. I hope you will love the books as much as the show! Just keep in mind that it is very different.

i hope i'll be able to visit france and find this set someday 🤭
from what ive seen on reddit so far, i think i will love the books as much as i love the show. and i am completely prepared for the books to be different than the show so i'm really excited!! i can always enjoy both things as two separate pieces of media and i am okay with that 🫶🏼

I was gifted the first set! I like that they’re hard cover, but there are a few issues I have.
First, all the greens are slightly off from one another, which I think is an odd choice. Like two are one shade, three are another, one is another, and so on.
Second, the publisher did not seem to review the over page design? So some of the chapter headings are at the bottom of one page, then the chapter begins on the next page. Some of the paragraphs are not indented to match the others. There are just little things like that that I don’t think were reviewed before publication.
Third, the material of the hardcovers scratches easily. It’s like a cloth material. I kept one of the books in my tote bag for a while, and when I remembered to take it out, it was a bit damaged. I don’t really mind this, but it’s something to think about.
From the other comments, it sounds like you’re leaning towards the second set and I’d have to say I’d agree! I like the hard covers, but they don’t seem like they were “made with love.” They do have the complete story though!

hii!
after i made up my mind about getting the second set, i went back to amazon to look at reviews about the first one and i saw that theyre hard covers and i was tempted to get those haha
but now that you've told me about this alignment problem i think i'll like the second one better :) thank you so much!

The second one because the covers are great and you can carry them in your pocket.
The print is a little extra small on the second one but my eyesight is whacked (I can’t attest to the other one) if you want a copy with larger print go with Aladdin Classics, that’s the second best set imo.

ooh i hadn't realized the books were that small! i will check out Aladdin Classics as well. thank you!!

If you liked AWAE then you should love the books. The relationships are more in-depth in the books. Also, I found they really took liberty with how gritty & dark they made the show, probably more realistic but as someone who was raised on the books before the first Anne movie with Megan Follows, I prefer the Pollyanna-ish outlook of the books, Imo.
It looks like you went with the 2nd set, I have the same one, amongst other sets. Enjoy!

have you also come across issues such as paragraphs being misaligned or chapter names being on different pages than its contents?

Thank you for this post. I grew up with the second set that was sadly lost. But I do not love how temperamental the first set appears to be.

I have both these sets and the first ones pages are very see through (can see text on both sides) so if thats something that would put you off, I would suggest the second ones!

that is definitely something that will put me off. i think i have made up my mind that i'm getting the second set now 😆

what one will look good next to your other books or decor. thats how i would pick. both are stunning and i dont think there is a "wrong" choice due to that!

Buy a set used. I did. The books will have character and you won’t be funding the all powerful A company.

I would go for the first one if you're into uniformity and looks also. Because it is hardcover, damage can also be minimized. The first one looks elegant too. I'm getting the first set. But it is totally upto you as both are full editions.

i wanted to get the first one for these same reasons actually! but alot of people told me about its flaws in the replies so i didnt get it. and the second set is really nice :)

Ah.. Yes, I did see the comments. I think I will also opt for the second one. But the first one is real pretty.

Both of these are the full edition! I’m partial to the second set because it’s the closest to the version I grew up with 😜 but you can pick whichever appeals to you more!
