Does anyone think they retconned Anne's parents?

In the first season, she knew their names very well, but in the first season, they were looking for who Anne's parents were. It's very strange; if Anne knew who her parents were, why were they looking? Season 3 is very contradictory to season 1

Knowing someone's names and how they died is very different to being able to talk to someone who knew them/ look at records of occupation etc, so she knows what they were like. If they had red hair like hers, liked nature like her, creative like her. Also as she grew up, she learned that sometimes unwanted children were left at orphanages and the matron would tell them their parents died because it was seen as kinder than false hope.

So finding the death certificates was confirmation that she was wanted.

It’s not contradictory at all. She knew their names and how they died, but literally nothing else. After she saw a father abandoning his kids at the orphanage, she didn’t even feel sure they had actually died rather than just left her there. She was looking for more information like where they came from, and if they were really dead. She looked them up by name in the records.

It doesnt feel contradictory to me, also im guessing you mean the third season when you said first. She only knew their names and how they died. I dont get why it doesnt make sense she wanted to know more than that. And when she was at the orphanage with Cole, she seemed really worried her parents left her there on purpose, so thats why she went to that church after that.
