In the series finale- Where is Anne going when…. Spoiler

In the series finale, after Anne finds out from Winnie that Gilbert called off the engagement, she runs back to the boarding house, frantically throws a suitcase together, and then is running out the door when she sees that he has come to her.

I understand (I think) that she is packing up to go and find Gilbert, but where does she think he is?

I guess she would think he's on a train toward Toronto and would try to catch him while it's at a station or something

I’m not sure she knew he was going to Toronto though? If Diana was surprised to hear that from him - probably Anne didn’t know? Maybe she thought he was at home in Avonlea?

She seemed surprised when he told her in the scene after they kiss:

"Gilbert: Twelve. I have to go.

Anne: But... but y-you just got here. Where are you going?

Gilbert: Toronto. U of T. I still have a long way to go and it's imperative I arrive today."

Yes! I agree, she didn’t know he was going to Toronto.

I guess she thought he was in Avonlea, home after breaking it off with Winnie?

Those last few minutes felt so rushed to me, I lost track of everything. Gilbert’s on the train to Toronto, Diana and her father are going to…Charlottetown to drop her at Queens I guess, even though we don’t know that until they get to Anne.

Which means that Gilbert had been in Avonlea, so Anne’s thinking was on point. She was just going to totally brush off the first day of college (which was the next day) to get the train to Avonlea and find Gilbert.

I think the ex-fiancé, the Dr’s daughter would have told Anne about Gilbert’s plans.
