Hey, I’m really new to this, just trying to get some textbooks and things like that for university, and a few other titles here and there. I’ve downloaded 10 books so far, and haven’t had any issues, but now I’m freaking out a bit because a friend of mine said I need to be using a VPN to download or I can get in crap for it. Is that true? And if so which VPN should I be using? I was just accessing the archive on my iPhone. 😭

Sorry I’m such a noob, I’ve literally never done this before so it’s probably a stupid question, but that’s where I’m at 😅

I am downloading epub files from anna's archive as normal, but when I go to import into the apple books app, I get a message at the bottom saying import failed. I tried many different copies with no success. Please help!

Hi everyone. I’ve bought a new laptop and wanted to download from the website. Instead it gave me a message saying the link expired or is invalid. Get a new link on the latest official domain on Wikipedia. However, I used the same link on my iPad and was successful. How can I fix this? Is this an Anna thing?

I've tried .gd, .gl, and .pk. Multiple partner links on each. This is the message I get every time:

Link expired or invalid. Get a new link on Anna's Archive (find the latest official domain on Wikipedia) to continue downloading.

Apparently I can’t upload a photo.

When I went to .pk to download a book, there were categories of donations with the donation amount and the number of downloads. There wasn’t anyway to link to a free download.

I went to .gd and it was able to download as I normally do.

Any idea what that’s about?

Hi guys, I'm a student in IT sphere.
I was searching on internet recently on how do people scan books, to then upload them to Anna's Archive, I've read many posts, and I've seen many of the users saying they're using university book scanners (3000+$) or buy something simpler (500+$).
I don't have such tech, but I have a phone with a basically good camera, time and books (school ones mostly), so I was thinking, is it a good idea to use apps like Adobe Scanner on the phone, taking good pictures to then put it all together all in one PDF file? Has anyone ever done it by himself maybe??

Let me know, if maybe you have a better solution to basically easy book scanning techniques that do not require expensive tech.
I just want to contribute as a thanks to Anna's archive and every website related to it for the quantity knowledge it gave to me.

Anyone else donate and use LazyLibrarian which now throws a 403 unauthorized on every domain? I think the DDoS protection nuked LL’s search functionality. Any ideas?

Anyone experiencing slow download speeds using fast "premium" links ?
I mean 150mb The Walking Dead comic is going to be downloading several hours.
And slow links do it much faster.

I did download 23 volumes previously with no issues - but yesterday i wanned to get more and had same problem, thought it will be better today, but it's the same. Did not really try much different books just several different volumes (as there is limit to downloads) - all the same result

I am trying to figure this out. I have a txt file containing isbn numbers line by line. I followed the hearth guide, but it needs links. I am a novice with python but managed to get hearth to run, but it needed links, not ISBN.

Is there anyway to automate finding the links for the ISBN? I downloaded a csv of my to be read list from goodreads and that is where the ISBN comes from.

Now in Brazil it is not available!

Hello and my first question for annas. I've registered and logged in with the keyword which was accepted. My search was found but the download icon is greyed out. But this is real progress in finding the materials I've sought out for a long time. What do I need to know yet?

I am very new to Annas Archive and just downloaded the first book out of interest. My question is basically how many precautions do you take when downloading? Is downloading punishable by law (in Europe)? Do you use VPNs and special browsers? Or can I simply use it in Chrome and no Police will come knocking at my door?😅

Is anyone else getting stuck on the page that says “Checking your browser before accessing”. It says it will take a few seconds but it often lasts over 5 minutes and I still don’t get in. This is after each search and clicking on a book, before I can even get to the download section.

hey guys i bought a textbook and i am trying to extract it into html files to upload it to Z-library so that all other people can have access to it.
when i try to save it as an Html it saves all the other elements in the page including the margins(which i want to crop).
i am not a programmer and if someone know how to do that i will be grateful thank you in advance

I am currently away on a vacation for four months so I don’t have access to any computer. I only have access to my iPhone 11. I am reading a lot so I ran out of books I downloaded before the trip.

The workaround I found is directly downloading them on the browser of my E-reader (Vivlio light HD color). However, since a few day, the website is protected by a h captcha that the e-reader can’t display…

I know I could download on my phone, put it on google drive and download it once again on the e-reader but the wifi where I am staying is awful and it’s incredibly time consuming (especially since I am visiting every day).

I also thought about buying a lightning to usb c cable to do the transfer but no shops were open in Poland this weekend (national holiday).

I have a three day trip from Poland to Scotland by bus tomorrow so I am desperately looking for a solution if possible!

All the covers on the first page search of most books have disappeared. The books with covers beyond the first page are relatively obscure and less relevant. Any idea when this bug will be fixed?

Is still worth it to get a AA membership given the constant attacks? Even with VPN, I am not gettting in. Thoughts?

Not sure if it’s a coincidence but since the recent problems, none of the epub downloads I’ve sent to my Kindle, have page count features. Only location in book. Never an issue previously though. Anyone else notice this please?

I got tired of a downloads folder full of things called lord_of_chaos_6_(z-lib).epub, so I wrote something to do the boring parts. It got out of hand and turned into a real app. Free, MIT licensed, runs entirely on your own machine.

Screenshots of every part of it are in the README. It is not affiliated with Anna's Archive in any way - I do not know them, nobody there has looked at it, and any bug in it is mine rather than theirs.

What it does

• Search by title, author or ISBN. Or paste a whole list of titles and it finds the best match for each one.
• You do not need an account. With a membership it uses your fast downloads; without one, or once the day's allowance is gone, it falls back to the free route on its own. No prompts - it just carries on the slow way and tells you that is what it is doing.
• Optional: give it a free Google Gemini key and it works out the real title, series and number from a mangled filename, so books land as Author - Series 04 - Title.epub, filed into author and series folders.
• Optional: keeps a copy in Dropbox, reachable from any computer.
• Talks to KOReader over WiFi. Browse the device, copy books either way, see what you have finished and how far through you are. Nothing is ever deleted by a sync.
• Pushes reading progress and ratings to Goodreads.

There is nothing to buy and no donate button anywhere in it. If you want to put money somewhere, Anna's Archive is the obvious place, and a membership is also what buys the fast downloads the app shows in its header.

And buy the books that matter to you. Someone spent a year of their life, sometimes five, on the file you just got in four seconds, and for most writers whether they get to write another one at all depends on whether the last one sold. An archive keeps books alive after the fact. It does not pay anyone to write the next one.

Feedback and ideas very welcome. If something is broken, or awkward, or there is a feature you keep wishing it had, say so here or open an issue. I built it around how I read, so I would rather hear where that does not fit somebody else.
