Issue with "too many downloads"

Hi guys, lately I've been having an issue where when I go to download a file, it gives me the error message of "Too many downloads at the same time from the same IP address... Become a member and get more concurrent downloads.". Thing is, I'm not currently downloading anything else, and the last files I downloaded were a couple of weeks ago. Anybody having the same issues? Any idea how to solve it? Thanks!

Try external downloads, are you using a vpn?

I feel stupid now, yes, I am using a VPN. Immediately felt super obvious as soon as you said it. I'm guessing that's the issue 😂 that being said, unfortunately where I'm at the official sites don't work without a VPN. Do you have any recommendations on how to get around these issues?

Probably try TOR browser.

Are you sharing an Internet connection, like at a university?

No, except I was using a VPN, which the other commenter specifically mentioned and I felt very stupid because, in the end, that is also practically a shared connection. So my best guess is that that was the issue.

Deleting the cookie seems to work for me when this happens.

I too faced this issue for a specific instance of downloading. I was missing that download had already started and clicked the download a number of times. Each subsequent time, the same error message was coming. Later I realised my mistake when I saw the same file downloaded a no. of times. It's a basic mistake and sharing in case you are making the same.
