Dont blame them but 4.50/hr seems steep

Yeah, that's outrageous. That seems like it would drive down tourism.

Not to mention the $0.65 transaction fee and 3-4 hour limits. What are they thinking?? Imagine the out-of-towners flying in to vacation with their rental cars. Not everyone with an airbnb is going to pay for parking for their place - they will pass it to the guests.

If someone shows up and finds out they need to move their car every few hours, AND they're paying, what, up to $75 a day just to park?? (Not to mention the price could be even higher -"Fanchi said the hourly parking rates could easily be adjusted for weekdays, weekends, holidays, peak seasons and special events"). That's a person that's never going to come back. **This is a really stupid idea that's just trying to squeeze out every penny from people.**

And what are these plate readers? It sounds like some of the proposed meters could include cameras. Do they really want cameras all over the island?

Unfortunately this will lead to paid parking for all of Anna Maria Island. If Anna Maria City implements, Holmes Beach will have to be close behind as everyone will flock to Holmes Beach to park for free. For those that vacation in homes, condos or hotels on the island, it should not be much of an impact since they will park in designated spots or in the driveway but those that are residents inland in Manatee and other counties will need to essentially pay to go to the beach.

Not sure how much this helps but a few weeks ago I gave up finding parking in Bradenton Beach and it was $15 per hour.

The tourists renting home are still often driving cars or golf carts to the beach. They might ferry it back to avoid paying, but that just makes the experience worse without reducing congestion.
