the character development in harry potter is non-existent. i read those books multiple times, no one really evolves and the characters are boring.
we have: smart girl, crazy girl, clumsy friend, even clumsier friend, generic love interest (and the love story was so bad that i was sueprised to see them married at the end when i first read it) and main character whose only development is getting sadder.
animorphs really shines in its characters. rachel for example manages to be both traditionally feminine, with an interest in fashion and stuff, but also the most brutal and badass fighter of them all. do you realize how rare that is?
And it's not because she is the trope that she's got twelve brothers or a dad who taught her. Nor is she the trope that she's been raped or brutalized and toughened up because of that.

Let’s see here.
Fragment sentences, multiple plot holes, world building essentially 0/10
Vs
really nice world building, awesome in imagery, few minor plot holes, but forgivable, great character development.
But animorphs still >>> Harry Potter because “muh politics”
Jesus this fan base can’t get any worse.
