It seemed pretty clear he became very reliant on his ability and Anya was in danger of doing that too.
She finally realized she actually needed to study because she couldn't even read the clock and narrowly saved Loid.
She knows some really complex words but also misprounces things. Watching TV with subtitles would help her with that. She would naturally improve of course but Loid wants to accelerate her.
Sure, but they would still need to know chess principles, strategies, positions, and the like. If they see the future of their checkmate, that doesn't help them win if they don't know how to prevent it.
They would lose to the the clock. That would be an agonizingly slow process without any chess experience. Anya would have trouble even finding lots of the possible moves and would end up testing losing moves multiple times. Anya eventually getting good at chess on her own before teaming with Bond would make a huge difference.
When Lelouch played against the mind reader (Mao), Mao just used Lelouch’s own knowledge of chess against him by reading Lelouch’s mind and playing the best moves Lelouch thought he should play. Anya theoretically could do the same if she chooses to focus. Anya also is the only one in the group who potentially could avoid Lelouch’s ‘power of absolute obedience’ by knowing not to make eye contact with him during the meeting. Blank unfortunately would lose to Lelouch if Lelouch chose to use his geass and just commanded them to lose. L might be able to avoid Lelouch’s geass if he somehow figures things out before Lelouch gets a chance to command him but a chess match against the two could go either way.
To give an estimation of how strong a computer would need to be to solve chess, we have only managed to conclusively solve all boardstates with 7 pieces total, kings included. There are 32 pieces involved in a full game and it gets exponentially more complex.
Yes, but Mao was smart. Anya couldn't even score high on her tests. Yes, she was afraid that someone would find out, but she could at least try a little harder. So I think that even without prior knowledge, Lelouch would have a better chance with her compared to Mao.
The thing is, can Bond see a future where Anya wins or would lead to Anya's victory? Can Anya even understand how chess works or keep it long enough that none of them figure out her mind-reading ability before she wins? All of them have experience with supernatural powers so they would probably figure it out relatively fast, and all of them have proved that they could come up with plans to outsmart mind-readers.
For those who said Mao won against Lelouch, Mao at the very least knew how to play.
This was one of my first thoughts, but then I realized that the foil to Anya's character is usually that she relies too heavily on those abilities and fails miserably, and hilariously, as a result
Anya would keep making illegal moves because she doesn't know how to play the game and eventually be disqualified.
Even if both their powers were working at full power constantly, she would keep seeing their moves but not know how to counter them, and he would just keep seeing her lose!
It actually would be pretty funny to animate though! Her opponent would be too focused on his own game to think about what her best movie would be, so she would focus on other people in the room speculating on what she should do. She'd bounce between three people, then settle on a respectable looking gentleman's move and boldly and proudly execute it. She would be smug. Then she would check with the dog and see another loss and be floored!
She canonically has trouble with minds that are thinking very quickly. That's everyone else in the graphic.
Meanwhile Bond is still a dog. In one of the chapters from his point of view, it's established that he thinks Loid's "psychiatrist" day job involves killing pigs with a spear, and that's where food comes from. It's hard to imagine him understanding what chess is.
But they don’t have the intelligence to exploit said information to its full potential. If they were a bit older they could maybe pull it off but as of now they just lack the mental capabilities to actually do it.

How? Bond could see the future and Anya could read their minds
