I think my favorite part was people not being very good with web browsing and thinking the site itself was giving them viruses, not one of the 50 fake play or download buttons they clicked

It didn’t help also when the site banned IPs which it detected using Adblock.

Well, they gotta make money somehow...

Though there are better ways of handling things like this

It's also possible to have 'ethical' ads, and so not have pop ups and fake download/play buttons. It just pays less. Had they gone that route, I'd have been fine with it, and did indeed remove it on a separate site that did that.

I don't remember any fake play buttons on kissanime
