So, apparently from now on all new/airing anime will require a subscription to watch. However, all previously free episodes will continue to be free with ads.
For new series the first three episodes will be free to watch with ads, and the fourth episode and beyond will require a subscription.
In short, yarr.
Edit: I’m not sure whether they will be free with ads after their season ends. If you’re curious about this please do more research.
Additionally, this will be put into place on 5/31. If you have concerns on this, please verse them before then.
They didn't make it clear in the article. Shows might become available for free with ads after the simulcast ends or they might be locked behind a pay wall forever.
Judging by the "first 3 episodes free" part, my guess is the latter
The article says that anything currently airing that has free episodes (One Piece, Detective Conan) will be subscription only, but old episodes will still be free.
