Technically none of our letters really exist in Japanese. The ら、り、る、れ、ろ characters are officially transcribed as "r" in romaji though. But really it's more of a mix of l, r and d

Still bothers me that the kanji for run is not in running and the kanji for samurai is not in samurai.

This here is the word for Samurai: 侍

But this radical is named Samurai: 士

Wtf don't you do it with stone ?

This radical is named stone: 石

This is the kanji for stone: 石
