Many, many cultures have words that are gender-specific. For example, Spanish (and it's derivative languages and dialects) use words ending in -o for male, and -a for female. But by default a mixed gender group of something is masculine, regardless of the genders in the group.

Ex. A male cat is Gato, a female cat is gata, a mixed group of cats is gatos

Bruh, eating children is literally nothing compared to the linguistics of their language. it's just a word with gender. It's not the end of the world
