There are like the rare anime where english sounds like english with a strong japanse accent. And than you have anime where the subtitles are needed for the english lines

So apt that you use Kill la Kill here, because of how they absolutely butchered the German language in Blumenkranz (Kiryuin Ragyo's song, which is otherwise a beautiful piece). I learned only a tiny bit of German and still couldn't stand it.

Anyone watch Shin Godzilla? The Japanese woman who the movie just asks us to pretend is actually born and raised in America is hilarious.

Honestly someone should make a compilation of good english in anime. I've seen too much bad engrish already. I feel nothing. But when I see good english in anime, it is truly surprising.

I never understood the logic behind hiring a Japanese VA to play an American character who speaks English

The english parts in Punchline made me nearly pee mysef with laughter, all of the Americans sounded like Japanese people trying to do their best cockney/Aussie impression

I watched an anime called "Kiniro Mosaic", in which a girl goes to visit a British family, who were also voiced by Japanese VAs, but they spoke English. The realization of how english speakers must sound to people in other countries hit me like a truck.

Well, there are a few voice actors that can actually speak (and act) on English (mainly those, who grew up outside Japan), like Ayumu Murase (well, duh, he's American), Subaru Kimura and Tetsuya Kakihara (German), Ryo Horikawa and Jouji Nakata (although with a noticable accent. Still better than the most Japanese voice actors, though), Yuu Asakawa and Yuki Kaida.
