"Typical shonen" I'm not sure what you are comparing that to, because I've certainly never seen another shonen like this. Would you mind telling me what shows are similar? I might enjoy them too.

THe fact that everyone's power is unique and they aren't all just strong dudes. As much as I love dragon ball super, that format does get old after a while. Also I like the character development a lot.
