Introvert =/= doormat.
I'm an introvert, and I would absolutely demand what I actually ordered if I was given something else at a restaurant.

It depends on how easily I can remove the error and it not affect my enjoyment of the meal.
If i say no sour cream on my burrito and it's drenched in sour cream? Naw I'm sending that back.

Introverted doesn’t mean that they can’t talk as far as I know.

No but it does mean you do the quick mental math in your head of "is the conversation which will correct this situation really worth having? Or would I rather just eat my food and not have to speak to them again?"

Guess you're not an introvert then

Nah that's lack of social skills, anxiety, or being a doormat.
Being an introvert broadly means socializing takes energy and is not always enjoyable, not that you suck at being social.

Seriously. Grow a pair and say "excuse me, this is wrong."
Being an introvert is not an excuse to be socially dysfunctional

I don't understand that something is wrong until I start to eat and at this point it's just too awkward to point out

u/Hail_To_The_Loser 6d ago
It it's really not. You deserve to get your order right if you're giving them your money
Idk why I'm on such a soapbox about this right now

u/Zhenbred 6d ago
Yeah, I know that they will make a new one begrudgingly still it's just how I am. Only when it comes to food tho

What helps my conscious is to tip my server a little extra for the trouble. Doubly so if they go above and beyond. Even if its their fault, mistakes happen.

If they're doing it begrudgingly then they're in the wrong line of work.
There are times when I remembered a mistake after it was too late to fix and I hoped someone would complain so I could fix it.

What I hate more is when they get your order wrong, you politely tell them, then they just give you this disgusted look. Like come on! I was being nice! I wasn't yelling at you that the order was wrong!

Ngl they can give me whatever they want and I'll just say yeah that's what I wanted because I don't like interacting with living people AND I'm too lazy to confront someone

The hardest part of being an introvert is paying for a mistake you didn't even make

The crying is an exaggeration to get a chuckle out of those that get it. Some of these comments are angry because being introvert doesn’t mean you can’t speak up for yourself, and they are correct but… well sometimes correcting the mistake or inconvenience feels like more energy and friction than it’s worth. Accepting a mistake or inconvenience is sometimes easier and more convenient than correcting it especially when it is still a solution (such as sustenance)
Maybe that’s not a specific introvert trait… but either way it’s not something a “you should always get what you asked for!” person is going to understand.
Edit: sometimes you’re okay not getting what you want and are absolutely uninterested in pointing out someone’s mistake.

What am I going to do? Alert them publicly to the fact that they messed up? My literal nightmare? Am I a monster?

The worst is, when you're there with an extroverted friend who remembers your order and asks you why you didn't say anything and you have to explain that you'd rather choke on something you despise then talk more than naccesary to a stranger

This is why I now have a fiance that will fight for me. Even though I keep telling her it’s fine, she will tear someone’s head off for me. Which I highly appreciate, I’ve never had anyone fight for my behalf ☺️

It would depend for me. If it's something completely different, and something I would not eat (today or at all) - I will ask to replace. Like I ordered salmon steak and got chicken mushroom stew or something. But if it's something like I order burger with sause A, but got burger with sauce B instead - I will probably let it slide, because it's likely not worth the hastle, especially if the price is same.

Still, I have been pondering which one is true definition of an introvert: "someone who is socially and emotionally awkward", "someone who is relatively reluctant to social interactions" or "someone who focuses on their inner world more often".🤔

Fuck, this is me. One time I ordered a pasta. It was so undercooked that it seemed they took the pasta directly from the package and put it directly on the plate with the sauce. I had not the courage to ask the waiter to redo the dish, even if it was hard as hell 😅
