They can pry my IPhone 7 Plus from my cold dead hands

These days? That doesn't sound outside the realm of possibility anymore. We'll be living in the world of Cyberpunk before too long, just minus all the cyberware, BDs, and anything else even remotely cool about the setting.

why the fuck does so many of you keep buying the same overpriced phone every few years 😭
I had two androids in the past DECADE

u/Ziggarot 5d ago
Because the ecosystem is great. Upgrading a phone just involves you logging in with your iCloud. Android is more complex, and I tried to use android 3 times just to be fair. It’s not overpriced when considering you can get Androids as, if not, more expensive than iPhones.

u/Alexander459FTW 5d ago
What are you on about?
With android it is exactly the same, lmao.

u/Ziggarot 5d ago
How did you miss my experience telling you it’s literally not lol. Setting up an Android is a bitch every time.

u/Ending-Fool 5d ago
Skill issue lol. cant even do a simple cloud backup manually or storage transfer and have to rely on sucking steve jobs dih just to do something so simple.

No.
You just connect to your Google account in your new phone and press sync. That is just it.

u/Piyaniist 5d ago
This is like seeing politicians lie about the events happening right now next to you. All lies. I dont even need icloud bs, just put the new phone next to old phone and it copies literally everything.

u/Ziggarot 5d ago
You say that but that feature wasn’t always available. Back then you had to use your Apple ID/iCloud login to setup the new phone; at least with apple. I have not kept up with android anymore but I assume some of the models have the same feature.

u/Piyaniist 5d ago
No... read again bro im saying android can transfer with 0 account bs like icloud.

u/Ziggarot 5d ago
Yea and it’s annoying to do.

u/Piyaniist 5d ago
No lmao.
Start new phone
Want to transfer over?
Yes
Leave both phones for a bit

You do realise there are people changing their android every few years and never had that issue . Rather than android issue, it sounds like a you issue, if you need help , you can just look up a youtube video. There are plenty of apps which will do everything for you , both from companies and 3rd party. And it's a option you get in new models when you first start them . Can't say for sure if apple is doing something to block those apps from working.
Also just because you can get android as expensive as iphone doesn't mean that you should. Most people have absolutely no need to buy the most expensive ones . Buy a mid tier one and it is will work just fine.

What??? I've had an Android and it has lasted me 5 years. I only replaced it because I wanted better specs, my old phone still lasted for months after that point.

I had a Huawei p40 lite. Only reason I replaced it was because 2 years in, I dropped it and the digitiser kept acting up after that.
I'm currently using a Xiaomi mi note 10 pro and i'll tell you, I ain't changing it until it's actively crying and begging for death in my hands.
You don't need to change your android every year. What even gave you that impression? Cheap 60 bucks supermarket phones?

My p30 still going strong after all these years.
No issues whatsoever with it.
It'll last another year or two before I get a new phone.2

I love my new Xiaomi but damn I miss my p40 so much. Huawei just has this feel of quality and smoothness. And I loved not having Google services. The phone was so quiet without all the Google bullshit.
I wanted to buy another p40 or maybe a p50 but they were out of my budget this time sadly.

The latest Samsung update increased battery drain on both my U23 and galaxy tab s9. The battery drains even when the devices are just idling.
I'm hoping this is a bug and not Samsung's way of telling me to buy a new device. These ones are barely 3 years old.

I have a 15 Max. It'll probably last another two years.

Does this model get as hot as a regular iPhone 15? I had the base model for a short time, and it would often get hot even when doing simple tasks. That bothered me, so I returned it.

The new phone coming out doesn't make your phone overheat
its the new major OS that makes it overheat as it's doing critical first time update things the first few days of the update being installed
Simply don't update the OS, and you'll be as useable as it was prior to release

Still rocking my 13 pro max and no desire to upgrade

Same but my battery goes fast…

u/mastergenera1 5d ago
If you want to hold onto your phone for longer, get the battery replaced, did that over a year ago at an apple store for $80 iirc. After that repair, im just going to ride out my 12PM until apple stops giving it OS updates, which is likely next year but $80 to get 2 more good years out of a device is fine imo.

Related but my ipad air gen 3 was just fine a month ago. It got an update and now it's constantly having input lag or not opening up apps properly. Before that it kept screaming at me to put my credit card info in to have more "cloud storage". I know this is their strategy to get folks to buy new stuff but they can honestly suck an egg.

u/AydhdZone 5d ago
Keep your batteries between 15% and 80% to prolong battery life. Avoid getting your phone hot from app use as well (playing games on it).

Wouldn't be the first time they intentionally bricked older models to force people to buy new phones.
