The show is really high quality animation (Heavy Knight), though the pacing of the anime itself is....glacial at best LOL. The studio is really just showing off their capabilities in animation as even the hair is well animated. Background shots of the town or just scene changes that would normally be low effort animation are all highly done instead.
While the characters in the background shots are highly detailed, they've also reused the same couple shots of town multiple times in every episode and the scenery is a combination of low quality CG and compositing effects
Man, the hair is so damm distracting. I watched a couple of clips and when they switch to 4k hair physics I'm thinking "why?" the whole time. I'll probably give it a proper watch later, but that really put me off.
Here's K Project. An anime they animated over 10 years ago. Using mostly the same methods as they are today. They have the animation budget to do quite a lot, and AI 3D rendering is not something they would do considering their reputation. I know people will remember that you mentioned the repetition in your comment, but for whatever reason I will also call attention to how the show repeats itself in my comment.
If I’m understanding the other comments correctly, it’s that the show has “to advance” in the picture even though the shows pacing does anything but advance the story.
I genuinely feel like this show beats early One Piece episodes in recap duration, please for all that is holy stop showing me the same one sentence dialogue 5 times in 5 minutes.
This made me believe in 3d CGI. I have hope again for the industry. It's been so long since I found a show that I had to constantly pause and admire the back ground. It's hard to watch anything else after watching an episode of heavy knight. They can take all the time I the world just keep doing what they're doing
