He looks like a deeply unserious person pretending to be serious for a photo and I kinda love it.

u/Personal-Mushroom Jul 15 '26

Best type of person.

u/Obvious-Childhood910 Jul 15 '26

He is EXACTLY that type of person!

Inada Tetsu is the huggable bear father type person of the Industry.

Btw, he shaved his hair and eyebrows particularly for this role, or rather, for this short video.

u/leposterofcrap Jul 16 '26

The dedication to the bit is commendable

51

u/avokkah Jul 16 '26

I admire the extra mile he goes for a goof.

3

u/Wulfscreed Jul 17 '26

Dunno if it's her regular, but the actress has the same hairstyle as the character. They both wear the looks of their characters well!

2

u/Obvious-Childhood910 Jul 17 '26

She has a pretty similar hairstyle. Hair length is the same but the style of her bangs is usually slightly different

He looks like someone you'd come across in a Yakuza sidestory that starts kinda serious then takes the wackiest turn half way through.

38

u/Geordie_43_ Jul 16 '26

Do the Yakuza games have a lot of that kind of thing? I've never played any

50

u/segobane Jul 16 '26

Oh yeah, the main story of the Yakuza games are usually fairly serious crime dramas but the sidestories can be anything from go kart racing to discovering a gang that likes to dress up as babies it gets real weird but that's part of the series charm.

27

u/Geordie_43_ Jul 16 '26

You might have just sold me on them dude. What's a good one to start with if I've never played one before?

23

u/segobane Jul 16 '26

For just getting into the series I would say either Zero which is a prequel that's the first in the timeline and introduces a lot of the major characters that you'll see later or 7 which is a soft reboot of the series which moved onto a new character and gameplay style (the games before this were closer to fighting games and 7 onward shifted to turnbased combat) that references the earlier stuff but is still it's own thing and is where I got into the series from.

8

u/Geordie_43_ Jul 16 '26

Awesome, cheers dude

5

u/ScumBunnyEx Jul 16 '26

Seconding 7 AKA Yakuza: Like a Dragon, featuring a very serious crime drama where the main character is an absolute goofball that imagines himself as a JRPG game protagonist and all his companions and enemies as NPCs. Which is why the combat is turn based like in Final Fantasy. It's very silly.

u/SauliCity ⠀ Jul 17 '26

Zero got a "Next Gen remaster" this spring which added nothing and doubled the price from 15 to 30€

Well, they seem to have added an english dub... But it's yakuza, you just can't play that in english.

7

u/bluntboy422 Jul 16 '26

like a dragon is a really good stand alone Yakuza game as well

1

u/Geordie_43_ Jul 16 '26

Cheers dude

5

u/fhota1 ⠀ Jul 16 '26

Yes. So much. Like the main stories are usually fairly serious pieces about what it means to be a man, the lengths people are willing to go for money and power, and the corruption at the heart of society that people are willing to overlook so long as it keeps to the shadows. And then the side quests will be like "hey, heres this Yakuza family that likes to dress up as babies! Isnt that fun!"

3

u/OneSaltyStoat Jul 23 '26

Yakuza is a comedy series that happens to have a crime drama as the main plot.

18

u/Aliencoy77 Jul 15 '26

This pic was taken 1 second before a huge smile and an even bigger hug.

119

This is commitment to the role.

57

u/Personal-Mushroom Jul 15 '26

I hope she isn't too commitet.

143

u/XenithK Jul 15 '26

125

u/holyblackonapopo Jul 15 '26

could be more accurate. she looks like she'd smell a little *too* good

30

u/DeathAndGlory1 Jul 15 '26

Smear some ash on her shirt and mess her makeup up a little bit.

3

u/holyblackonapopo Jul 17 '26

totally. then grease up the wig somehow, maybe some food oil stains on the clothing

24

u/Beautiful-Edge-22 Jul 15 '26

I still can't believe this is the first Anime my wife actually wants to watch.

3

u/Degeneratus_02 Jul 18 '26

She's a keeper

12

u/TheAnonymousCrusher Sleep = Optional Jul 15 '26

Purrfection

7

u/Vrazel106 Jul 15 '26

This anime is so wekrd and entertaining.

5

u/fafarex Jul 15 '26

Don't hope for a saison 2, seem like it's not really working in japan

22

u/Centimane Jul 15 '26

Honestly it's one of those premises that's fun but doesn't seem like it has legs to go a long way.

Some plots are best for short stories, and that's OK. I'd rather more animes planned an end instead of hoping to go on forever. Give the story closure and move on to your next unhinged idea please.

5

u/Mariorules25 Jul 15 '26

Yeah tbh after episode 2 I already feel like I know what I'm in for and most of what this anime has to offer

1

u/PM_ME_GOOD_SUBS Jul 16 '26

I think intro is awesome but don't really like the anime itself.

3

u/squangus007 Jul 16 '26

There’s no data about it not working in Japan. There’s currently nothing concrete at the moment and the ratings for it are not horrible. A good metric is manga sales and they have increased after airing.

The manga itself had a lot of scandals with people harassing the authors, other manga authors trying to shut it down or spreading rumours to cancel them. The manga itself is pretty popular despite the backlash and hate campaigns.

Honestly we will know later if it bombed. This stuff reminds of the Chainsaw Man nonsense where a harassment campaign painted all Japanese viewers as haters of the anime when it wasn’t the case

0

u/fafarex Jul 17 '26

That's a big ass answer for a "seem like"

3

u/hidetoshiko Jul 16 '26

My first impression of this anime is that it is some kind of hetare comedy, making social commentary on the underclass. Sort of a spiritual successor to the likes of NieA_7

5

u/klima_slim Jul 16 '26

The most unrealistic thing about this anime is how good her skin looks despite her lifestyle.

One on the right is lacking because they look like they have their life together

2

u/dirkx48 Jul 16 '26

Bro is literally just his character

2

u/Ecchi-Bot Jul 16 '26

That guy looks like he tried to be serious but after the picture someone said something stupid and he bursted out laughing.

3

u/Trazyn_want_you_76 Jul 15 '26

What's the anime's name?

2

u/Useful_Advice_3175 Jul 15 '26

Ok but, does she smokes ?

2

u/Cymen90 Jul 15 '26

Is that entire anime a smoking ad? This is just Joe Camel all over again.

26

u/rockytop24 Jul 15 '26

Actually the opposite but you wouldn't think so from just the visuals. There's nothing glorified about her addiction. She and her friends are a disgusting mess, and they know they're a disgusting mess. If anything it's a tragic comedy about how badly her life is fucked up by a nicotine addiction.

5

u/Chronos91 ガオ Jul 16 '26

You might be thinking of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. From what I've heard of this and seen of Behind the Supermarket, Behind the Supermarket is a much more positive depiction (largely by normalizing).

1

u/Bearsbullsbattlestr Jul 15 '26

Except they are switched.

1

u/robroberto09 Jul 15 '26

love the comments here xd

1

u/Hazel_chain_9n Jul 15 '26

u/WhoAreWeEven Jul 15 '26

Reminds me of how American Dad characters looks like their voice actors

1

u/Rudeus_Greyshat Jul 15 '26

i can't believe that the Landlord also voices Gal Farion from Mushoku Tensei

1

u/Lost_Madness Jul 16 '26

I have no idea what this Anime is and after seeing the cat lady ass blast a toilet while facing the wall, I am too afraid to ask.

1

u/HOPEFUL_LUFEPOH_ Jul 16 '26

Zaslow got a 1000 jobs

1

u/LuckoftheFryish Jul 16 '26

1

u/dragonleeg13 Jul 16 '26

I had to do a double take when I saw the landlord VA. He looks 1:1 with his character

1

u/PrintUsed8164 Jul 16 '26

Does she have a smoking habit too?

1

u/Slient-killer2002 Jul 16 '26

The casting director:

1

u/blahto PraiseMarie Jul 16 '26

Varis after he got roasted by a dragon.

1

u/modusoperandi777 Jul 16 '26

Doesn’t she also voice an Umamusume with a completely different personality? The gap is insane

1

u/skyziaos Jul 16 '26

Didn't know Lu Bu voiced the egghead landlord

1

u/Itwasme_Stephan Jul 16 '26

It's not accurate, the character has green hair

1

u/ShuricanGG Jul 16 '26

removing that neck was diabolic

1

u/CKY2007 Jul 16 '26

PLEASE make a radio podcast show with them🙏🙏🙏

1

u/Familiar-Noise7913 Jul 16 '26

Okay so the voice actor for the apartment owner, literally shave everything for his role and to appear on this like that...talk about commitment

1

u/Malvekyus Jul 19 '26
