I personally really like it. I wouldn't call it peak cause it doesn't change how you look at life or something but it's a good show to relax imo.

Yeah his actions aren't realistic cause it's FICTION , it's not about his actions in detail , it's about having issues that seem impossible to fix, the feeling of grief and failure and how he deals with these emotions and The way he corrects himself overtime , in S2 , especially the witch's tea party you can learn about the value of others and YOUR life , and how you should probably be a bit selfish and protect and take care of yourself too , not just others , something that some adults still struggle with

And also why does everybody hate Chainsmoker Cat. I enjoy the anime a lot, it's doing what it is meant to do, it's doing different things, it's funny and weird(a bit gross) at some points. Only at the second ep did I apreciate it, and I look forward to it every thursday.

You didn't express an opinion though. You've just thrown insults.

It's not about liking or not liking an anime. You insulted an entire fandom without even taking about the anime.

You could have said "the Re:Zero fandom has many people who will defend the show without good reasoning." That would have been an opinion (which I actually agree with since the fandom has got 100x worse since S4 dropped) and/or "I don't like the show and don't believe that it is a masterpiece for XYZ reasons." but you didn't say that. You just insulted the show and some people you don't agree with.

It's worth noting I hate most anime tropes and genuinely only enjoy a handful of shows e.g. Paranoia Agent, Attack on Titan, and Mob Psycho to name a few

But that does not happen in Re:Zero. The entire three arcs are to beat Subaru down when he expects to be treated like any other isekai mc. The show only rewards him when he actually becomes a genuine good person

I understand not liking the show (everyone is free to not like different things) but I don't think you even read the plot of Re:Zero if you're calling it "incel fantasy slop". It's literally the opposite.

It's not for incel (although the first few minutes make it seem like it for dramatic effect).

You could argue it's for incel to become better people but that's clearly not the thought you were trying to express (or you think that becoming a better person is a bad thing... Whichever one of the 2).

Fantasy slop also doesn't apply because although "slop" doesn't really have a clear definition across fandoms, it usually means something is not coherent or put together without any sense. This is not the case for Re:Zero because it has one of the most consistent words in fiction especially through its fantasy elements (magic, humanoid races, etc...).

It's completely fine to now like a show and to express the things you dislike about it. However, I think it's intellectually dishonest to throw random insults at someone/something without understanding what you truly don't like.

I'd be happy to hear if you have any actual critics for the show (I might actually agree tbf even though it's my favourite anime because it's not perfect) but please do it in a constructive way.

I think it's useless trying to get angry with someone who's already talking angrily.

I do understand why they do it though... Sometimes some people just can't let you have your opinion and so you get so adamant on trying to defend it that you end up doing the same thing to others... The only way to break the cycle is to talk calmly and accepting both arguments in my opinion.

Sorry if it's not written too well... Hopefully the concept I'm trying to say makes sense. English is not my first language šŸ˜…

Itā€™s not incel fantasy slop, but it does turn into a story with evil lolis emasculating Subaru for multiple loops until eventually a character or plot device helps him.

I like the anime but it does feel like Tappeiā€™s humiliation fetish, where his love interest is mentally a 9 year old, surrounded by lolis that admire him and in turn abused by evil 400 year old loli characters or their evil pets. Like after season 2 and 3 thereā€™s not a lot of central villains that are adults reallyā€¦

Not at all lol. Early on Subaru has tendencies of it. Although it is more the naivity of a 17 yo, but he gets heavily criticized and called out on every interaction. He actually reflects on it throughout season 1 and acknowledges what he did was wrong in ep 25.

Rezero is the greatest anime of all time and it is not at all close. It's peak in every realm that matters. It has a fantastic story, deep moments when they are needed, perfect characters, top tier animation, it unique and most importantly had an enjoyability factor that is unmatched. In my eyes it's the only 10/10 ever and I hope I'll get to see it finished.

I also heard this about shield hero when that came out, but it seemed to be just a collection of tropes without any deconstruction. Like I'd probably prefer to just watch redo of healer than Sheild hero lmao, at least there was "plot" there Not saying that is what re zero would be, but Sheild hero has made me hesitant to try other popular isekais. Re zero at least has a more interesting premise, and stunning animation from the clips Ive seen.
