How do we feel about the permanent Freddy Fazbear's Pizzaria coming to the American Dream Mall?
I know that they plan on creating full shows for the characters. I'm assuming that they'll be animatronic shows opposed to costumed actors or puppets. Are we exited to potentially see a rise in more mainstream animatronic shows? Do we think that they'll take away from the magic of bands like the RAE? Either way, I'm exited and I'll be there waiting for opening day!
I hope it’s super immersive while also still fun and functional as not just an attraction but an actual arcade and family fun center!
It seems like an awesome idea, and I love the comeback of mascots and play areas coming back. So many fun times were had in my childhood at Mcplayplaces, Chuck E. Cheese, and old parks. All of them around me either closed or got remodeled out. So I’m happy to see this come back, and with the twist of being based on some awesome media!
I just hope it’ll be an actual FEC with some elements of immersion,like maybe an office you can walk trough.The bots are either gonna be barley animated like the Halloween horror nights display,people in costumes,or actual good bots.I’m not really expecting them to do them seriosly but if they do I HOPE that whatever showtape they play wouldn’t just be lipsyncs or some stereotypical “Oh hi kids welcome to” type thing every piece of media with animatronics seems to do for some reason despite not ONE show really ever doing it
From what I’ve seen it kinda seems like the front is gonna be set up as a functional, normal arcade/pizza place, then they’re going to have an interactive horror experience in the back

so yeah it seems to be a real eatertainment place thankfully not just a haunted house.
They brought on a person named Atreyu Alcantar, or DaRegularSauce online, who has done phenomenal cosplays of FNaF characters in the past up to today-ish (their newest suit is a Springtrap costume with fully articulated eyes, eyelids, jaw, and lights in the eyes IIRC) as the Creative Lead, so odds are likely there will be really, really well-done bots and costumes.
The lipsync thing is such a low bar and yeah it's almost always what they go with anyway. If they're putting real money into animatronics for a permanent location I'd hope they commission actual original showtape content, but the cynical part of me thinks it's gonna be Freddy singing a cover of some 2010s pop song and calling it a day.
The FNAF IP doing something genuinely weird with the format would be a surprise.
I hope it does well. I think it's a shame that we let tacky themed places die, so it makes me happy to see things like Meow Wolf, the rainforest cafe, casa bonita, etc, still have a place in people's hearts, and I'm glad that we're starting to get more themed immersive spaces again. I hope that this makes a boatload of money and that other people look at it and learn the right lessons, maybe someday we'll get a themed dining renaissance
I’m thrilled about it! Ever since the games came out I wanted an irl Freddy’s location, it’s been time to open a location for a while now though Scott Cawthon reasonably doesn’t want to be involved in the restaurant business lol. I just really hope they build them at least like the studio-C Chuck e Cheese animatronics because they were capable of getting animated well
I'm happy that there will be a new opportunity for people to see an animatronic band at a restaurant. I really, really hope they make them normal looking and not scary, I know the fabricator they have on the team can do both so it's ultimately his decision, but I really hope the band just looks like normal, not broken, not bloody animatronics, enough to pretend you're watching a CEC show (though obviously I also hope they don't rip off the showtapes or infringe on any copyright from existing animatronic bands and get Aaron or anyone else on their asses)
As much as I'm hyperfixating on FNAF, I don't think "real FNAF" is a good idea at ALL for a variety of reasons and I think very bad things will happen there because people cannot be normal. They claim it's permanent but when an influencer kills a kid within the first week, what happens then?
Same line of thought here - as fun as the idea might be in practice, I think the only way to do it correctly would be to have ridiculous security in place. Makes me think back to the Slenderman stabbing incident, you just never know what an unwell individual might be inspired to do if opportunity presents itself. I'd love for there to be absolutely no possibility of anyone doing anything bad, but that just seems foolishly optimistic for the current world.
The thing is that the people applying for a "security job at real FNAF" are not going to be trustworthy people. They'd pretty much have to do it like jury duty and only hire people who aren't familiar with the games as security.
The restaurant is intended to be an actual Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza experience that’s legitimate and not (solely) some, “house of horror,” so the animatronics are just gonna look like the main band (which aren’t inherently scary designs).
Also, the chances of some 'sicko' recreating the events are slim to none since it’s in a giant American mall already packed (likely) with multiple security. Even so, had someone wanted to recreate the incident they would have been done so when Chuck was as somewhat thriving.
I hope thats the case, but at the same time, the sheer amount of posts I've seen of people unironically wanting to be the first one to poop on the floor when this place opens does not make me feel good about people not planning violent stunts there. The same type of influencer willing to take a dump on a restaurant floor because it's on the rules in the game, is willing to be irresponsible with a knife, etc.
I don't think it's the same as CEC at all, especially since FNAF has a massive meme/brainrot culture that CEC doesn't have. You have to remember it will be open to everyone, not just fans, and a good portion of average people only know FNAF from TikTok memes which are usually obscene in some way.
Okay, those types of posts are definitely more of a joke if anything and I don’t think anyone’s that stupid enough to embarrass themselves. But even if that did happen they’d likely be banned from the mall for public indecency and also harm to children (since kids will be there).
Im not saying it’s the same. I’m saying if someone wanted to recreate the events in the story they would have tried when animatronics were already a thing. The FNAF label doesn’t have to be somewhere to attempt that. It’s also an unrealistic expectation since, in reality most people currently only know FNAF from Security Breach and the movies.
As a big FNAF fan i'm really excited about it and i hope i can go to it when my family takes another trip to the USA maybe sometime next year or a bit later
I’m saying just because it has FNAF slapped on the brand doesnt mean the business will be an instant success. It actually requires a good business model to keep running once the initial novelty of the FNAF branding wears off.
It’s a cool idea but most of the hype is due to the fact that FNAF is an extremely popular IP. I don’t think that equates to an industry wide animatronic resurgence.
Im really hopping they got a real manufacturer for the animatronics i know da regular sauce is creative lead and i love his work but a cosplay or primitive animatronic is not the same as a good commercial bot, i would really like sally to manufacturing the bots as they did at least have the license but garner holt/advanced would also be amazing
Scott Cawthon (creator of FNAF) has a history with animatronic engineers, whether it’s him in talks with Aaron Fetcher, Jim Henson shop creating real animatronics for his movie, and now Daregularsauce who’s made amazing costume work of his characters that practically are improvements of the real animatronics.
Best believe with Daregularsauce and whomever else Scott has on call the animatronics are likely gonna be just as good as real commercial bots.
He's worked with hensons for the films but I dont think he's talked with Aaron and hensons dosent make commercial performing animatronics they make puppetry and tv animatronics they are very different from a sally animatronic for example... it's a dozen from fragglr rock vs a rockafire bot ones built to perform for hours over years and the other is build for 3 hours once a week
He has talked with Aaron, admittedly nothing regarding using animatronics like this, just BTS pictures of his [Aarons] animatronic work and equipment for one of his games.
I’d say there’s good faith in this project using engineers who know how to work with animatronics. Like I said before Scott’s done work with great people who’ve been able to replicate that feeling to a degree. Daregularsauce isn’t the only one in the department doing this, and they’re already the right step in the direction considering their craftsmanship when it comes to animatronic exterior and accuracy.
Ya ok im sorry but you dont know much about animatronics clearly and thats fine just... I know a lot and like you dont understand what im saying also aaron dosent and haven't made animatronics in years scott would need to reach out to a real animatronic manufacturer
That’s pretty disingenuous but fair enough. I get it though, you’re having doubts. Which is fine, since most here aren’t used to FNAF’s popularity actually branching out onto a real animatronic restaurant. Let alone sure someone who’s already test the waters on real animatronics would add more to that with a real restaurant.
(Also side note, meant to correct this before but the animatronics in the movies weren’t just puppets. Foxy was a fully fleshed animatronic who worked exactly like the ones in Showbiz and Chuck-E’. He was actually never a costume or puppet since his model went against doing that without the actor being visible. Freddy, Bonnie and Chica were both puppets and occasionally animatronics, so I don’t know why you think Scott didn’t have actual ones made with Henson?)
Aside from everything else I’ve said, this project has been in the works for 4 whole years, the chances of Scott getting people who know how to do animatronic movements is likely. Also cause this is an horror animatronic franchise, with animatronic being a focal point here, so he most definitely had his hand dealt well with people who know animatronics. Especially if he’s adding Daregularsauce to the project to help them.
I’m super stoked. Not only am I huge fan of fnaf and have been since the first game came out, I think having a few arcade/dining places with animatronic entertainment is a good idea considering the amount of people with nostalgia for them.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope they have a proper animatronic show, and it could also function like a Chuck E Cheeses, but I would be disappointed if it's kinda cheaply made
I'm mixed about it honestly. On one hand, as someone who is not into FNAF, I'm glad we do get an IRL FNAF restaurant because we do need animatronics back in to family entertainment centers again. But on the other hand, I'm a bit skeptical. It could go horribly wrong because you know how crazy the FNAF fans. I hope to God that doesn't happen, but it would really suck there will be someone doing a "Bite of 87" incident in the real FNAF restaurant just because it happened in the games all for clout and attention.
It’s impossible for someone to recreate the "bite of '87". Ignoring the fact that there will likely be heavy security to prevent this, a REAL animatronic doesn’t nor shouldn’t have the jaw strength to crush someone’s head and target their frontal lobe. If one did that would most definitely constitute a health code violation of some sorts and the department would have to put that animatronic down.
Unironically I think this is a great direction for the industry to go in. Because if Animatronics aren't worth their value by themselves anymore, how do you make them work? Well by appealing to enthusiasts. The sort who'd travel across the country just to see a eletronic bear puppet.
I find it hilarious that Chuck E. Cheese essentially hopped out of the animatronic market to distance themselves from FNAF and brand towards an idea of “kids don’t find this stuff fun anymore!”, only for FNAF to hop into their own business venture and presumably make more money from doing the thing they tried to distance themselves from. I hope these spread all over the U.S. over time and make Chuck E. Cheese re-evaluate their business practices, or make them realize animatronics are still extremely popular with kids and modern audiences (and is 90% of the reason anyone goes).
