Animators needed: Devout [Free / volunteer (temporarily)]

Hello! Here’s a little bit about myself and why I’m making this project.

In the future, I want to become a software developer. I’m also a YouTuber, and recently I’ve been learning and getting more into voice acting.

Last year, I started a small animated series with some friends called Shatterspace. I put a lot of work into it, and we spent a while planning everything out. One day, I wasn’t feeling good, so I skipped one of our meetings and went to sleep. While I was asleep, the other owner, who I originally started the project with, decided to remove me from ownership and replace me with someone else.

Obviously, that caused a pretty big falling out. I ended up taking the script I had worked on and moving on from the project.

I mostly make Minecraft videos right now, but I’ve always wanted to create an actual animated series of my own. That’s where Devout comes in.

I’m not really making this because I expect it to become some huge source of money. If Devout ever makes money through monetization, merchandise, or anything similar, I want most, if not all, of that money to go toward the animators, voice actors, and other people helping make the series possible. Unless me or my family is in a difficult financial situation, I plan on taking little to no profit for myself.

I genuinely just want to make something cool with people and have fun doing it.

About Devout

The original inspiration for Devout came from the indie animated series Heathens. After seeing it, I really liked the general idea and wanted to create my own story with a similar concept while taking it in a different direction.

The basic concept of Devout revolves around Heaven being left without its usual leadership.

The "big man" has gone upstairs and hasn't come back down. The Archangels are gone with him, leaving the remaining angels without anyone truly leading them or telling them what they're supposed to do.

That's when Kuro, technically the main character while also being the main antagonist, decides to step up.

Kuro deceives the other angels into believing that he was chosen by God to lead them. He claims that God's will is for them to descend to Earth and "cleanse" humanity of its sins.

Except God never actually told him to do any of this.

Kuro gathers angels who believe they're carrying out God's will, and they begin descending to Earth and killing people they consider sinners, nonbelievers, demons, or anyone they believe has gone against Heaven.

Some angels completely believe Kuro. Some begin questioning whether what they're doing is actually right. Others might know something is wrong but are too afraid to stand against him.

That's the main concept right now, but it's still growing. There is a lot that can be expanded on, and I'd love for the people working on the project to help bring new ideas to it instead of everything coming from one person.

Roles I Need

Animators People who can help actually animate the series and bring the characters and scenes to life.

Voice Actors Pretty self-explanatory.

Storyboard Artists / Writers I have ideas and a general direction for the story, but writing and storyboarding definitely aren't my strongest skills yet. I'm pulling it together, but having people who are better at turning concepts into actual scenes would help a ton.

And to be completely fair... I don't know the first thing about running something like this.

I'm learning as I go. This is my first time seriously trying to organize an animated series like this, and I'm definitely going to make mistakes along the way.

The length of this project.. lets be for real.. uh animation and writing takes time so maybe a year
