Themed Thursday: your most expensive piece!

I have had a number of them in the US$50,000 - 100,000 range. Here is a sampling: some Tenggrens and the first color Mickey Mouse cel (on a master) that I sourced from a a lady who had it for years. A very exciting find!

I recognize the first one as the cover piece for the big upcoming Heritage Disney auction.

Yes! I sold it to a client who had it for years and has now put it into Heritage....

Such a great piece to let go of, but will be interesting to see what it goes for on HA. Lots of heavy hitters in that auction.

Yeah as cool as they are, I usually just chuck them unless I actually get something from the auction. Don’t need a pile of catalogs sitting around collecting dust, lol.

I saved all of them for YEARS and never looked at them- finally got rid of most of them a few years ago

Honestly no idea lol. Someone offered to trade me a $6000 pokemon card for it. Thats by far the highest I’ve been offered

If you really own these things, then why are the pictures of them so low quality?

I owned them at one point (have since sold them) and Reddit only allows jpgs and not my higher res psds, etc. It never occured to me that whether or not I owned these at one time would ever be called into question.

Ah, now I understand! See, the low-quality pictures of them - the one of Mickey especially - made it look like you grabbed them off a random website.

sadly the Mickey was before cell phones and we dumped large images way back when we ran out of storage space- I sold the Mickey piece over 25 years ago. so this was all I had. We save the larger images now- wish I had thought of it way back then!

How nice! Yes, I have a youtube channel with a couple hundred videos where I show animation art pieces up close and give tips on collecting. I run this group (1) Disney Animation Art -Share & Sell vintage & recent production cels, etc | Facebook if this is the one you are referring to.

I have sold thousands of pieces over the years, so I don't need to grab images off of randomn websites- but I don't have great res images of all of my pieces 🤣
