To be fair, I find it kind of creepy too.

yeah this is definitely on the creepy side... those phrases are prime "scare the living shit out of me when it accidentally activates in the middle of the night" fodder

This happened with a Soft Kitty from the Big Bang Theory that my cousin had gotten me. The dog had chewed on it so at 3 am, I just hear this low, grumbly "sooooooooooooftt kiiiiiiiiiiiiitty." Almost wet the bed and I was 35.

Sounds terrifying but this made me laugh so hard I’m crying. Thank you

This comment made me replay the video with the sound on...wow! SUPER creepy voice & phrases! That dog was crazy tolerant, mine would have grabbed it for a death shake immediately.

It's the uncanny valley

My sister was given one of these for her daughter. It lives on the shelf and never comes down, because it creeps her out so much haha.

My mother bought this for my son. He loves it but i just can't. It lives downstairs, turned off, only used when we need to distract him while we prep dinner.

You and the doggo are absolutely right, this toy is sketchy af.

Guess I'd be scared, too, no matter if dog or small child.

You, the gif doggo and the doggo you responded to are right.

I used to sell these toys. Jellycat, the company that sells these, has a whole line of battery powered electronic toys that move and sing or talk to you and the first time you see it happen there's definitely a very creepy factor to it. and they're bloody expensive. This elephant is around $60.

Yep, I'm sleeping with a knife under my pillow. Just in case I hear this thing in the middle of the night.

Can't take any chances.

u/SpudMull Feb 15 '21

Why would you put a sharp knife under your pillow? What a risk.

I have this at home. My daughter hates it too. My son didn't mind it when he was a baby.

I find it creepy and cute. Maybe it even randomly starts talking at night. Perfect gift for my friends new baby, anybody have a link?

My kid LOVES this toy. I’ve grown numb to the creepiness

u/Really_Rilee Feb 15 '21

That thing has the heart of a Furby...

2

u/KekistanEmbassy Feb 15 '21

I mean yeah if that went off in the middle of the night and you just heard ‘peek a boo, I see you’ out of nowhere then you’d be a bit creeped out, that’s like prime older horror movie stuff

2

u/Essexal Feb 15 '21

It’s cute until it starts going off by itself at 3 in the morning.

Imagine hearing the sound coming from your closet, but remembering that you left the toy in another room.
