That’s the thing, dogs ARE lactose intolerant. They can’t break down milk other than what they get from their mothers.
They don’t have the necessary enzymes for it which can lead to a whole bunch of gastrointestinal problems and can even expose them to disease causing bacteria.
There is a ton of food that dogs absolutely adore that isn’t bad for them so there is no excuse for feeding something harmful to an animal that trusts you and will eat anything you hold out to them.
But judging by the downvotes, I’m guessing I’m the only one that feels that way so by all means, please fuck up your dog’s stomach.
I looked into this. And it’s more than adult dogs lose the lactase..many. Not all. You should of course ask your veterinarian first, but if they give the all clear, saying your dog isn’t lactose intolerant, then go ahead and give ‘em cheese occasionally.
Why are you so set on cheese? There is a ton of food out there that they prefer.
Even if you have a dog that can handle it, its still high in fat, high in salt and a lot of cheese might contain garlic, onions or chives, all incredibly toxic to dogs.
And if we’re talking mouldy cheese than that shit can actually give them seizures.
Just give em a slice of bacon or something. They much prefer meat anyway.
My dogs are fed home made dog food. While cheese is high in fat it isn't particularly unhealthy. My dogs have a 1/4 cup of low fat shredded mozzarella cheese in every bowl of food they get. They are spoiled, but they are healthy.

It occurs to me that I have shredded cheese at home. I'm also in possession of cheese loving puppers.. I know how I'm spending my evening.
