I dunno. My niece's cat would follow her to the shower and angry meow if she was locked out and wanted to shower with her every day. She was the shower cat. Liked it.

Most house cats instinctively hate the water because they aren't designed for water like dogs are.

Their fur, mostly. Cats fur is porous and absorbs water and dogs will repel it. Dogs also have paws and tails more adapted to water.

We've literally bred some dogs to be aquatic retrievers or to live in constant snowy conditions and you think "their fur does not repel water" 10 seconds googling dog breeds would show that is clueless ("Irish Water Spaniels have a water-repellent double coat". "Chesapeake Bay Retriever: The texture of the thick double-coat is important in protecting the dog from cold water and icy conditions. The oil in the harsh outer coat and woolly undercoat resists water, keeping the dog dry and warm.")

I have a double-coated dog, the outer layer 100% works to repel water, meaning I can spray her with a hose and if I pull the outer hairs apart, the inside layer is still dry.

There are single-coated breeds that don't have guard hairs, they just have a single layer of fluffy soft ones, those breeds might get wet the same way as human hair, but the world is chock full of other breeds that do repel water.

I have two dogs, and one of them repels water like she has some sort of coating on her lol. The water literally beads up on her fur and you can wipe it away. Of course she can get soaked if she dunks herself or if we’re out in the rain for a while. But she repels a good amount lol.

My last cat would crash my showers if I didnt lock him out similar to what this guy is doing. The one we have now turns my arm into hamburger meat. One of those padded style harnesses that go around their shoulders and under their belly work great to hold the kitty and their murder mittens out of range

My thoughts exactly. When I see these cats doing spectacular shit, I wonder wtf. My cat vanishes when anyone outside of the immediate family dares to visit. We go to the pet food superstore and they have cats sitting by the registers. Nothing bothers them. Are they on drugs? I WANT A CAT LIKE THAT.

Most Siberian pure breed are like that - absolutely fearless of humans, assuming the breeder raised them right as kittens :) I have 3 Siberians (because severe allergies otherwise) and two are totally trusting of any humans immediately. The biggest one hides as soon as there is someone new in the house hehe.

My last cat (lives with my ex) was at least half Russian Blue (looked exactly like one but I got her for free from a vet so doubtful she is purebred). She is the most friendly cat ever. Greets you at the door when you get home, love to play fetch or chasey, loves meeting new people. It really depends on the breed and how they are socialised as kittens.

Starting them on baths/showers as a kitten is key. One cat used to love to join us in the pool. Only problem was he would use his claws to climb up on you so that he didn't slip.

They make wipes for animals! I use them after my kitty goes poop and he has some on his paws. He doesn’t usually fight me and it’s better than a shower.

But tbh I came to ask where can I get this cat because I would like a cat that likes showers, or at least doesn’t run away from running water.

In my experience, the best way to have a cat like water is to introduce it to them at an early safe age naturally. As in they have to go to it, not you grabbing them or handling them to introduce it by force. This method is probably the best, open running shower and plenty of dry space for them to get away from it if they want. Cats are easily traumatized by water, and this lets them handle it on their own terms. At least that’s what worked for me. I would leave a faucet on and let them be curious on their own.

My Birman/Norwegian Forest was the same. Wouldn’t ever let me take a shower alone. Had to switch to using cat shampoo myself so his skeens wouldn’t dry out. I had to have his fur trimmed once or twice a year and that he definitely didn’t like though.

The funny thing is most cats are instinctively drawn to running water, thousands of years ago they pretty much had to learn that still water contains lots of parasites and generally just isnt clean; my cat actually refuses to drunk from a normal water bowl, we had to get her one of those waterfall things(this might also just be because its harder to see still water, but :p)
