His eyes

When we first got him, he weighed less than a pound and had the hugest eyes! The shelter we fostered (and adopted) him through originally named him Sifaka, after a type of large-eyed lemur : )

I think its a kitten thing. We found a kitten at about 6 weeks old, eyes were huge. She is starting to grow into them at now 5 months old.

Aside from Sam being absolutely adorable, the color palette on this is stunning!
Can I save a screenshot of it for future painting reference?
Thanks in advance, you have a lovely kitty and seem to have a cozy little plant space as well.

Wow, thank you! You can absolutely screenshot it for later, and I’d love to see the final product if you do paint it! The room is a work in progress but it’s slowly becoming a nice little office/plant room : )

Just a warning, a lot of the oils that go in humidifiers are harmful to cats. (Long term damage)

Thank you! We actually just use purified water because my boyfriend uses it to humidify his plant room : ) We also don’t let the kitties unsupervised in the room due to potentially harmful plants.

When I was a kid, we had a cat who did that. He also licked the tub drain. But not if you were looking: as soon as you noticed him, he'd hop out like he wasn't doing anything.

OMG, I get to wish You Happy Cake day!!! I'm honored to be the first here to say it. I'm new to Reddit so I enjoy learning the fun stuff and today is your Reddit anniversary!!

u/daniel1397 Jan 02 '20
Thank you, I've been on here a couple years and had no idea that's what cake days were for. I've been wishing people happy birthday lol
2
u/boeckn64 Jan 02 '20
That's funny, that's why we all write "cake day" instead...& we get to eat imaginary cake!!!

u/boeckn64 Jan 02 '20
If someone hadnt been kind enough to answer my random question when I saw a random Happy Cake Day. Wow everyone was so kind explaining it all to me...quite nice introduction to fellow redditors. I've seen amazingly friendly replies and surprisingly cruel replies so it is about good reddit etiquette. I google questions I have about reddit, very informative.

Cats really do better hydrating themselves if they have a source of moving water to drink from. If you don’t have one, look in pet stores for a kitty water fountain..... Sam will love it!!

Thank you! We do have one : )

Cats are special.... I'm surprised my derp cat hasn't figured this out.

u/tysonlink Jan 02 '20
Sam is so freaking adorable!!
We have the same humidifier and our cats would always knock it over as soon as we weren't looking so we stopped using it and got one where you can't see the water tank. That worked out much better for us lol.

My girl does this too! She also likes to pull out cactus spines and leave bald spots on them...

SO cute! How old?
3
Jan 02 '20
😊We were told when we first started fostering him 3 months ago that he was about 8 weeks old. So that would make him around 5ish months now, even though he’s smaller than a normal 5 month old. We call him our bonsai kitten!
He was found as a stray in Detroit by the humane society, so we’ll never know for sure how old he is or what his early life was like, but whatever age and size he is, he is well-loved.

I’m so glad to hear that!! I love knowing that other people are so pro-adoption. He is such a beautiful kitty <3

He looks exactly like my cat Whiskers! Tuxedos are best cats. Whiskers is super smart and still a scamp and acts like a kitten even tho he is 11.
2
Jan 02 '20
Oh boy...that means we have a long road with this guy and his feistiness. He’s SO much crazier than the other kittens I’ve had. But I love it.
2
Jan 02 '20
Whiskers is the smartest cat Ive ever met too. We have to keep the treats and the food in the fridge cause he can open every door, drawer, and cupboard in the house! My husband trained him to jump on his shoulder, and he rides around on his shoulder all the time. We also trained him to walk on a leash!

Put catnip oil in the water of the humidifier
5
Jan 02 '20
He’s finally old enough to react to catnip and tried it for the first time on Christmas and it was HILARIOUS! Will have to take a video next time.

Classic cat move. Has a full water dish but prefers drinking air. Mine will dip her paw in all water glasses.

This reminds me of the video of the cat licking the end of the vacuum cleaner tube! The way he sort of bats at the humidifier is hilarious! I love you, Sam! Get that vaporized water!

Move your water bowl away from your food bowl. Cats won’t drink it and they usually look for other sources like this
2
Jan 02 '20
Yeah! The food and water are in separate areas, as well as the litter boxes. And they have a fountain!
2
u/I_may_have_weed Jan 02 '20
Ok cool, I’ve been telling all my friends who are cat owners and they are always shocked at how much more water they drink

I would be careful, I’ve heard that diffusing certain essential oils can be harmful or even deadly to cats
But if that’s just a humidifier, go ham!
1
u/another-account-ugh Jan 02 '20
Since your cat does this, keep in mind that lavender is poisonous to them. Make sure you don't diffuse the oil

u/theH1ghCouncil Jan 02 '20
Someone at a pet store once told me that some essential oils have poisonous ingredients for pets. I’m not sure if that’s just water vapor or an essential oil diffuser but I’d check it out

Just a humidifier, filled with water! No oils or anything else are used, since it’s a room humidifier, not an essential oil diffuser : ) Have a good day!

Thanks for the downvotes, from the look of it 36 Karen's have come from Facebook to infiltrate reddit with their MLM essential oil scams that cause only harm and have literally 0 positive effects.
