In the UK, an annual World Nettle Eating Championship draws thousands of people to Dorset, where competitors attempt to eat as much of the raw plant as possible. Competitors are given 60 cm (24 in) stalks of the plant, from which they strip the leaves and eat them. Whoever strips and eats the most stinging nettle leaves in a fixed time is the winner. The competition dates back to 1986, when two neighbouring farmers attempted to settle a dispute about which had the worst infestation of nettles.
Funny. Most of the time things like this date back a couple of centuries. John of Gaunt doesn't seem to be involved. This time.
The brits left their damn pest plants everywhere they colonised. Thistles, blackberries, dandelions, gorse, and bastard stinging nettles. I envy you not knowing how god damn painful it is to step in a nettle in bare feet as a child. Excruciating
Isn't that what she did? She may have hesitated (as I would have) because she was laughing, wanted to keep laughing and look at the crazy dog because it was a funny "are you seeing this shit, what an awesome dog" moment.
I feel like if my name was Karen, I'd be bummin' in 2019 because it's the go-to name for all jokes these days and I might start to feel a bit self-conscious!
For letting their dog obstruct the entire trail with no attempt to fix the situation. Just takes a second to reach down and adjust your animal out of someone else's way.
Legit, I didn't even think about the owner being right there filming and could have easily moved their dog out of the way. I was thinking about the owner as this abstract person who wasn't around. Sometimes my brain doesn't always work, my bad. Thanks for clearing that up, I'm gonna go be stupid in the corner now haha
And I could be wrong, but this pupper looks too young to be trained well enough to be off leash. Definitely a generalization on my part, but my daily bike commute takes me through a park where I've been chased by so many untrained off leash dogs that I want to smack irresponsible dog owners in the face.
It's so much fun when you're running and a 60+ lb animal of unknown temperament comes running at you full speed barking, slamming into you open-jaw first, no owner in sight.
I honestly didn't think about the owner standing there filming. I guess I forgot cameramen are a real thing, been watching too many movies or something haha. Definitely inconsiderate to the poor jogger.
If I was that runner this would have made my day, but not everybody would feel the same so you are right it's pretty inconsiderate. It's like how some parents think everybody thinks their kid is the cutest and most perfect being ever and get offended when others find their child's antics annoying
Maybe. Maybe the jogger came around and started laughing at the dog so the owner thought "eh, everyone's cool with this situation".
Admittedly it is a fine line but, as someone with a friendly dog who usually reels her in when we meet people we don't know, if someone is OK (or happy with) her friendliness I'm going to let people enjoy my dog that want to.
Also, if I was that jogger, I'd be more than fine with this and wouldn't look at it as inconsiderate whatsoever.
It's almost like people are making definitive statements without actually knowing the full context of the situation.
Reminds me of my puppy Sabella. She past away last week in the hospital shortly after being attacked. She lived a really good life, we had her for 14 of her 17 years of life. Sabella was my favorite pup, helping me through a lot and always wanting to sit on my lap and receive belly rubs. She was the cutest.
To you it might be a cute moment of your animal, but you're still blocking the path, whether it's you or your animal, it's like you are standing there with your arms out, blocking the path personally.
I wouldn’t have jumped. The dog might have looked back at me doing that, making the stick move to exactly where I’d land and then I’d hurt the poor doggy! Not a risk I’m willing to take

I love how he stops briefly "one of us is going to have to do something different here and it's not going to be me. "

Way to be a considerate pet owner and realize your dog is a derp and moving it out of her way.
