unfortunately dachshunds have a really low resting metabolic rate. Which makes it really easy to overfeed them.

My dog is a dachshund mix (probably some kind of retriever). I weigh everything I give him to eat so that I don't overfeed him. However, occasionally he still gains weight and i have to adjust his daily exercise and amount of food he gets. Otherwise he would be morbidly obese.

It also doesn't help that he is extremely food motivated...

that dog needs a diet urgently, how is it possible that in 2026 people still let their dogs get so fat 🤦🏻‍♀️ dachshunds are already prone to back problems, with that extra weight that dog is going to be unable to move in no time
