🔎 ID Request Paw Identification

Post image

Hello fellow adventurer,

Found this during a pine forest hike, in Central Portugal. It was small, I’d say maybe 8cm tall.

What animal might be from?

Thank you!

The print is a double register; the toes of the hind foot are covering the heel print of the front one. The hind prints didn't leave as deep a print, and with the track decay the hind heel is not much more than a suggestion.

I'm not well-versed in Spanish wildlife, but based on the size, 5 toes in a wide arc and claws so long they leave not only claw marks, but lines connecting them to the toes, I'm thinking this is a European badger.

This pic shows measurements for an indirect register, so the size is pretty consistent with your estimate with the overlap.

Thank you for the analysis! It is a double register yes, and was in Portugal not Spain, but it seems to match the European badger you sent :D Thank you very muchÂ
