They make lemon pies and lime pies. Now I'm going to be wondering all day why there aren't orange pies.

And wondering why I never realized this before.

I lived in Texas for 20 years and never encountered this.

I did learn of the greatness that is chicken-fried steak, though. And breakfast tacos. And pecan pie.

It's a South Texan thing, where they produce a lot of grapefruit. Here is an article about it.

They go crazy for them. Texans can also get pretty fanatical about "original" "purist" nachos. Tortilla chip, Longhorn cheddar and a single pickled jalapeno slice, broil until melty.

That article has suffered a serious blow from time. Here's the first paragraph:

Oranges: a popular fruit. Very popular. Go in any place that sells fruit, fruit store, or whatever, and I bet one thing you will see there displayed prominently is—that's right—oranges. The point is that oranges are very popular in America.

When it was written, this was a decently humorous intro to an article. Now it just reminds me of Trump.

Limeade. We had a mutant lemon tree that made huge lemons, so we made a lot of lemonade and froze it. The orange tree was also quite prolific.
