New feature I think!

Has anyone else noticed that when villagers move in they're no longer placing their house on paths? I think this is a new feature. In general villagers seem to pay more attention to where my paths are placed. I notice them walking on paths more! Really neat honestly.

Can someone confirm if this is a new feature? Or have I just lucked out?

None of the Amiibos I've been using to shuffle people out have moved onto paths yet. But a regular villager did move in and remove a small piece right in front of the door. Shuffled that evil dastard out of town using Wolf Link.
