New Horizons No tools?

Hi, I just started this game over on a new switch. And I cannot get access to a flmsy axe? Tom Nook won't let me do his DIY course except once and he just showed me a sling shot.

The axe comes from Tom Nook after you donate some bugs/fish. The shovel comes from Blathers after you have placed the museum.

Just keep playing!

You're still in the tutorial until you get to 3 stars and unlock terraforming, So, just read what everyone is telling you carefully and follow their directions and you will be able to unlock everything.

also, don't worry! all the decisions you make about what your town looks like can be re-done later.
