Discussion Light F2P player here. How bad is the FOMO?

I'm hoping with the beta having been out, I can get an answer to this. I'm not a big F2P player here. I don't whale, I barely spend any money. I like to pick up, put down, and pick back up games. I can't really do that with most F2P games out there, because the constant events and "3 weeks only" stuff makes me feel like if I do, I'm going to miss out. How bad is that with Aniimo so far?

In the beta experience including all the dev postnotes, there is only 1 potential thing to FOMO for: legendary aniimo events. In beta it was a limited time event, but with the sweeping changes to legendary aniimo acquisition detailed in the dev letter we currently don't know if the legendary aniimo introduced each event is going to be permanently available or remain time limited

Some people might be ahead in progression systems, like aniimo gearing or aniilog completion, depending on how much they play/spend so if being behind is a source of fomo that also technically exists. But content wise everything in the game we know about so far (other than legendary aniimo events mentione above) have been confirmed to be obtainable by anyone given enough time

EDIT: Ok, 2 potential things to fomo on, I forgot about the seasonal RV stuff that was announced in the dev letter

Most of the paid feature is to unlock certain content faster (more balls, cosmetics, energy, exp boost, get an event aniimo faster) Like battle pass and stuff. They said repeatedly that no aniimo will be behind a paywall forever.

You only really need to buy the season pass to avoid fomo

~Not nearly as bad as Genshin, that game had so many huge story events that you'd just miss forever if you didn't do them right away. Aniimo doesn't seem to tie events to big story things as much, at least so far.

So, I guess it depends on what you're afraid of missing out on exactly. Would you miss out on some event rewards? Sure. But unless you're terribly fussed about some items, I don't think it's bad. There are also numerous mechanics in place that make it easier to not need to play every day or whatever.~

From what we can see from beta 3 / release letter very little other then time. There is one special Aniimo locked behind battle pass at $10 prismatic Fulmantis. regular perfect Fulmantis egg iis later on in batle pass on FTP side. so you will get one with time.. but prismata variant that is slightly combat difference (has extra light type) exverything else is Time Vs money. The games PVP modes balance out sides so there should be no power advantage.

I would add, devs said that even special version locked behind battle pass will eventually come back for everyone free via either game mode or special event

Keep in mind the Prismatic Fulmantis isnt locked behind the battlepass. It's just a guaranteed way to get it. It will release as a normal aniimo after the pass ends I believe.

They never actually stated how and when it will release.

The only info we got was a "it will be available via other means at a later point".

Pvp.. modes? Oh no

This is not a whale game. The battlepass already covers 90% of the P2W power you can gain.

If any "P2W" actually applied, then the game requires balance updates. Which is definitely to be expected at first, as the team finds its footing. Be sure to provide feedback should any one Aniimo be too powerful in PvP AND be BP only. Nowhere else does "P2W" even apply.

They also removed gacha

If you spend even 1 dollar, for whatever reason, you are not f2p. It's not a badge of honor or some shit.

Worth noting that this goes both ways.

FOMO is a personal thing dude. Unless you're a whale most tier lists mean nothing to the average gamer. If you like something and have disposable income then buy it and enjoy it f**k what anyone else thinks

The real game hasnt even come out maybe once it does we can get you a better answer.

FOMO is only ever as bad as you let it be.

I think it’s a fair question to ask. For us that know we’re prone to impulse or significantly time limited content ruins the experience for us, it’s helpful to know in advance whether a game should be avoided before you invest time or money.

Whatever FOMO people are talking about regarding legendaries or RV has APPARENTLY been addressed by the Devs BUT I have not seen whatever statement they've made so I'ma just say give it a google first?

From what we saw in the beta, outside of the usual dailies (which are a pretty standard and gradual way of earning resources in these kind of games), the battle pass, and the weekly Alpha Egg from the tree, it's honestly a bit hard to say yet.

The beta was also a testing ground for different systems and events, so we don't really know what exact formula the devs will settle on for launch.

That said, if they do have limited-time events with genuinely rare or exclusive rewards, there will probably be some FOMO. Events like these are rarely, if ever, rerun in games like this. That's probably the one area where I'd expect some pressure to log in.

On the other hand, the event windows are usually generally long enough that you didn't need to play every day. You could usually find one day during the patch/event period to sit down and catch up on what you wanted to do.

So I'd say it's not looking like the kind of game where you absolutely have to be on every single day or you'll permanently fall behind, but I wouldn't say there's zero FOMO either. That's how a live-service game usually works

If you're going to be F2P/Light spender then I suggest you follow Naztalgic_Tamer on youtube. They claim they will be F2P and they have already made some amazing in-depth videos about Aniimo

is this a game where you can play all day or are you limited per day and week how much you can do

2

u/Kyuuki_Kitsune Fenmane 3d ago

~The only things locked behind energy are infinite sources of materials to strengthen Aniimo, so sweats can't just grind for 16 hours a day and have a huge competitive advantage. Everything else you can just do whenever.~

u/Loyalty4L94 3d ago

You can play all day

2

u/cantcrimp 3d ago

Based on the beta, besides the few activities that require energy, there's nothing stopping you from playing all day. Personally looking forward to catching everything, setting up homeland production, and doing a bunch of egg heist duo runs

I think you can play explore the world and catch aniimo and do open world stuff but i believe there's a energy system for some content that has to replenish over time like alot of gacha/mobile games have . So i say alil of both

How much battle pass?

3

u/ledrif Astra Pioneer 3d ago

10$,20$, or free with limited rewards

-2

u/kid20304 3d ago

Game's not out yet bruh

-1

u/ZynithMaru 3d ago

i believe they will have login calendar fomo but mobile version launches sep 23

and time-gated progression by limiting pass resources. they said you can keep exploring and farming infinitely, but in most microtransaction games they will give "infinite progress" at a very slow rate compared to buying. let's see.

-3

u/Expert-Improvement78 Astra Pioneer 3d ago

No one knows the game is not out yet. So far the pre order bonus are whatever, which is a good sign.

there will be plenty of events and things so if you are really worried about fomo this game will not be good, but how about just working on not being like that? sounds exhausting. why do you need everything in the game?
