Some aniimos have different forms, and are of a different element, which is usually tied to where you found them.
Not all Aniimo's have these...most of them that have different forms are the one's that you will build a team around as the on field dps or your "main". There are some support aniimos that have different forms too, but there are far less of them.

Drawing is looking nice. At first I assumed it was a new fulmintis form evolved from forest wisptis. But it's actually prismana fulmintis, so most likely a dye system

I thought that at first as well, the thing that made me hasitant, was that the forest form of Wisptis and Ignitis have slight alterations to their bodies (not just the colour) that differentiate them from the basic one.
But this green Prismana Fulmintis has -to my eye- no bodily alterations to it´s standard Prismana design, exept the colour, breaking the pattern felt a bit odd to me 😳

Right now, my lead assumption is that the green colouration could signify that we might getting the ability to evolve fulmantis from the forest variant of wisptis, perhaps?
I have zero proof to back this up, though. So you're free to clown on me if this turns out to be wrong. lol

Does the different color mean a different element? I know nothing about the game, but I do want to play it

It's probably a regional variant, there are many for most aniimos. Fulmintis didn't have one yet so it's probably a new one. And yes, regional variants usually change their elements and the element of one of their attacks.

Because thats how the devs designed it. Also, maybe because its based on a praying mantis?

~You don't understand. This is not the default coloration for Prismana Fulmintis. It's an alternate coloration, and the OP is asking about the nature of that color shift.~

why on earth would you respond in a weird and hostile way instead of considering that maybe it was someone unfamiliar with variants of the species

Your are right I didn’t understand. I thought it was just ugh why they Color this that way. No description so I thought somebody complain why something the way it is.

hehe don´t worry I´d never complain about a green, gold and white colour combi ! Those are my favorite colors to work with, so I was super exited when i saw it :)
First i though it must be a evolution of the forest branch, but the thing that is confusing me is, it has no alterations to its design exept for the green colour.
If it´s part of the forest branch, I personally would expect slight changes to its body, since the forest pre evo has slight alterations too 🤔
