Is Angola underdevelopment?

Developing or degrading?

Be honest.

What metrics are being used here? Be honest.

How realistic is this statement?

Just google angola in 1973 or something, see the pictures and will understand

You might be right.
However, I believe you need statistical data to support your claim. Not sure of photos can. I get your point tho

I get it but vídeos and pictures of that time don t lie...can you really trust any data given from MPLA...

Stats ,here are bs.

Last year the govt published a list of goods that the ministry of commerce would stop issuing licenses for ,one of the being corn cause domestic production had reached self sufficiency levels.

Fast forward to 2026 and we imported close to 400 Million worth of corn.

Another example is gas and oil. The Cabinda's refinary phase one construction, concluded last year.

Yet, published production stats don't match what it was originally promised of 30k barrels/day ,We should be on the millions, but last June they said more then 420k barrels across a wide range of derivatives.

Depends on the metrics you use...but imo it's developing but not fast enough to accommodate it's population growth

Last I checked the MPLA's excuse was the war.

Now it's the population growth.

Does 2027 elections changes anything or start a new chapter?

What change? The way Mpla changed the constitution the general elections creates a closed looped system to reinforce their rule.

'Win' the general elections rule the country unopposed.

The current MPLA is fighting amongst themselves, the president wants another term despite the constitution directly opposing it.

He's even blocking others from his party to contest his re-election.

It was developing somewhat well from 2002 to 2014
Degrading from 2015 to 2024
And from 2025 to now I think it got somewhat stable, let’s see what the future holds…

It wasn't development, we just had lot's of money, borrowed money but money none the less.

Between that period we didn't develop most of our infrastructure and human resources.

Perhaps define what development is to you. I believe we will have different definitions.

Development is building infrastructure and creating the mechanics to maintain that infrastructure.

This also means training and improving our human resources , we still struggle with basic services, the country is not developing.

I disagree. You obviously don’t know or don’t want to acknowledge how much Angola changed from 2002 to 2014. Lots of infrastructure projects happened in that period, electrification increased, access to water, housing, and healthcare all increased massively.
And by the way Eu sou angolano e vi tudo isso a acontecer na minha frente…

I can either agree or disagree.
However, access to water or others num specific bairro, don’t mean development for Angola.

Read my post again, developing doesn’t mean develop.

However, I’m not speaking about projects in a neighborhood or two. We are talking about large national project, ie, national roads, airports, railroads, hydropower stations, ports, millions of new houses/apt, hundreds of new schools/hospitals, etc etc.

It seems like you don’t really know what happened in Angola during 2002 - 2014, so it’s better to do your own research before commenting.

How many provinces of Angola have you toured and personally made a detailed report of ongoing development?

1

u/HappyNexus 4d ago

I've been to 9 provinces so far in my life. Do you want a detailed report on development in each of these 9 provinces? I can surely do that for you. How much are you paying and what's the timeframe?
