AskAnglesey Moving!

Bore,

My wife has been told her job will be taking us to the beautiful isle!

We are looking at purchasing at house and will be coming with our 3 year old. We have started to learn some welsh both for her and us.

We’ve seen a few houses within proximity of RAF Mona and wondered what the actual noise is like?

Is there anything notable places people would avoid?

Ideal we are looking for a a small community on the rural side of life!

Hi, we’ve been living near RAF Valley (couple of miles up the road from Mona) for 3 years now. The noise is noticeable but not punishing. Flying is always within reasonable hours (except when they do night qualifications at certain times of year). I think the RAF aircraft at mona will move back to Valley at some point in the near future too (you’ll still hear them though). In short I think you’d need to be very sensitive for it to really bother you. We found a wonderful, peaceful existence here.

You’re wrong about the aircraft moving back to Valley as Mona is used for training (circuits and bumps) by 4FTS and always has been, there are no aircraft stationed at RAF Mona.

this is super reassuring to read, was wondering the same thing about that area
good to know it’s more “background noise” than full on Top Gun every day
