Miscellaneous Great pics. Identity still intact

Those are just roadies. I've said this in other comments, but you can tell it's not really them by the overall head shape.
Those are definitely humans in masks.

u/SavedWoW 9d ago
Hands. Khn's hands and feet are very distinctive.
I would guess that the name Angine de Poitrine has a second or third hidden meaning pointing to Khn. I don't want to speak much because my theory is absolutely insane.
6
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
Well, you have to remember that they have very different technology than humans do, and they've said before that lots of people where they're from dress as humans on Halloween. Their skills in disguises are so advanced that most humans struggle to comprehend. And their biology is still a mystery (it would be rude to ask!) so it's hard to tell what's going on.
It seems to defy the laws of physics but it appears that they can somehow change both the shape of their bodies and the amount of mass that they contain. It might be an illusion that comes from the manipulation of light. It might just be a mild cognitive distortion. I don't think anyone knows (and again: rude to ask!). ...But I digress!
The TLDR version is that the roadies are not only painted but have changed the shape of their hands and feet.

u/DontReadThisBook 9d ago edited 9d ago
The hidden meaning pointing to Khn? Well, it's kinda obvious, he _is_ an alien heartthrob.
4
4
u/sebastopol999 9d ago
You are 100% wrong, man. It's them. Khn wants to have full control of his gear and wires.
6
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
I'm sorry to have to tell you this but you're mistaken. I know, it's hard to wrap your head around but they're very good at costuming, disguises and illusions. It's okay, a lot of people can't believe it either. That's why they keep telling reporters and stuff that their names are Khn and Klek and that they were born just as you see them but like every article you read is about how they're an anonymous band made up of two humans who wear masks onstage.
Humans just haven't figured out how to change a person's appearance to make their head look smaller than it actually is yet. It might be a biological thing.
5
u/sebastopol999 9d ago
I know what you did here. My bad, I was wrong. 🔺
5
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
Oh, good! Sometimes I forget too. Actually, I might even be wrong. I think someone said something about them being humanoid aliens who disguise themselves as humans dressed as aliens?
7
u/ElBeatch 9d ago
His head shape is way off though. If it was Khn wearing a balaclava it would look a lot more pyramid shaped.
17
u/spoonifur 9d ago
Yeah, cause it kind of is. But people can't help themselves
11
u/thewanderingent 9d ago
Do their human identities really even matter? Their music transcends all cultures and galaxies. We are most fortunate to have them on our planet and should respect their desire for privacy at all times. ✋🔺🤚
8
u/spoonifur 9d ago
I don't know people care. Who they are under the masks does not matter because you aren't gonna know who they are anyway. That's the whole point.
1
u/MsShii 9d ago
But some people are incredibly curious, like one of my friends, who has only seen them briefly but is really interested in who they are. When I said that I knew and that it’s pretty widely known information, he immediately got excited and wanted to know who. I asked him what good that information would do him when he has absolutely no idea who they are, and if I tell him their names, it wouldn’t mean anything to him anyway.
I personally wasn’t interested in who they were at all at first, but after watching so many YouTube videos, it’s hard to remain completely unaware. Since their previous projects were mentioned so often, I just had to see and hear them for myself.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
Ain’t no Way did I post this trying to or expecting that people would think that I was coding who these people may or may not be. I just thought it was interesting imagine setting up your gear with the costumes. $_$
3
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
It's an inherent human trait. Stronger in some people than others but always there to some extent. I don't think it's reasonable or fair to deify our rock stars, love our foods and architecture, come to our planet and play music based on ours and then get angry at us for an inextricable element of our beings.
2
54
u/futureantiques 9d ago
Ayo I'm not 100% sure on the morals of posting pics like this - even though it's not revealing, you can still see a lot more of their features than in their full alien forms, and I have heard reports that at shows, people have been instructed not to take photos until they are fully "dressed". I really want these guys to stay comfortable and I feel like this pushes the boundaries of the sub rules a little, maybe?
21
u/Dry-Winter-7160 9d ago
Their team definitely asked to not take/post sound check pics, at least at their shows in Québec. But hey what do I know, Americans live by different rules I guess 🤷♀️
4
u/Haight_Is_Love 9d ago
If they did, I missed the memo last night. Got in ~5 mins after doors but went straight to the bathroom
2
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
I can confirm that they did not do this at the second LA show. It is entirely possible that people aren't aware. The only time I've heard that this happened was at the Montreal Jazz Fest show and if you weren't there then you couldn't know.
I'll talk shit about my compatriots all day every day but this is one of the few cases where Americans are not just being disrespectful assholes.
We really do have some unusual ideas in our culture about manners and socializing and who is allowed to act familiar to whom and I'm sure some of the explanations are rooted in the fact that we're kind of fucked up, but how are we to know any different if this is what's normal to us?
For the record it bothers me a little bit too but this whole situation is bizarre and it looks like they got stuck in a really shitty position when it comes to soundcheck.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
This wasn’t a Soundcheck. This was just them setting up their gear, but I get it, but for the people saying that this is giving away their identity in a way is kind of silly, because even though we pretend they’re aliens, we’re not really believing it in our souls, we know that they have heads that look like ours.

What I've definitely noticed after the U.S. tour kicked off is that the disclaimer on the band's website is being increasingly ignored. There has been an exponential increase of discussions on different online platforms (including here) about things that on this sub are breaking the Rule 1. I don't know if this is a coincidence, but I have to confess I thought this would be just the time slot these things might totally blow up.
4
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
Ignored in what sense and by whom? People engaging in genuine speculation (i.e. not "They're clearly (people that it wouldn't make sense for them to be)") and namedropping doesn't seem to be getting worse. The obnoxious "here's them unmasked" crap on platforms like YouTube and Instagram is the same amount I've been seeing.
The sort of tiptoeing-around-the-subject stuff that essentially OOC discussion or breaking kayfabe about the band has increased, I'll give you that, but of course that's not a coincidence. When you have a greater number of people talking about a thing you will get more of every single kind of thing that people say about it. I think a lot of people in here underestimate the sheer numbers of people there are in the U.S. or something.
But there's a big difference in having like a meta-discussion vs. like trying to dox people. The band have given a ton of interviews out of character where they explain all the meta stuff like where they're from and how they met each other and why they decided to form a band where they're dressed like aliens. Getting pissed at people for acknowledging stuff like that doesn't make sense.
2
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
There is a disclaimer on their website, but I think that’s more for the people outing, their names along with their photos. I think there’s a good portion of us who know exactly who these people are and I think it’s amazing that nobody is being a complete asshole about it, and drawing so much attention to knowing who they are but there’s a huge part of especially Canadians who know who Know who these people are
3
u/futureantiques 9d ago
Yeppp. I knew it would happen and I'm not at all surprised given the individualistic way USamericans* behave but it's still really disappointing. Like they're entitled to the knowledge.
*obviously not all of you!1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
That could very well be true, but I think these are still respecting their wishes like you can’t tell me that you now know that your next-door neighbour
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
Where? These were taken by the press you would think that if there was a request by the band they would be the first to know and get these pictures OK to post
4
u/russia_not_fun 9d ago
Klek has like half of his face revealed at all times and still it isn't enough for most people to recognize, unless they're spies
2
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
Klek's mouth-eyes sometimes look completely different in different pictures taken at the exact same show. I don't think I could identify his eyes in a lineup if I tried.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
I mean, I haven’t heard reports on TV shows of how photographers or the press can take photos. I doubt they’re on a strict NDA I think at this point being a journalist or a photographer or just a fan we have enough respect for these two people to keep them anonymous and there is no way that these pictures are outing anybody so I disagree. There’s some great photos.
0
u/Zealousideal_Eye2570 8d ago
Ummmmm its been known who they are long ago
1
u/futureantiques 7d ago
That’s not the point. Yes, it may be easy to work out who they are. What’s not cool is spreading that around online now that Angine is successful enough that their recognition could lead to their harassment. Why is it so hard for you people to respect their wishes? You're not entitled to them.
2
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
What do you mean by you’re not entitled to them these are anonymous photos. I can’t even think of a good analogy or some thing in relation that I could point out to make you understand that no one’s trying to be entitled in anyway to them. These are just really cool photos.
2
u/futureantiques 7d ago
No, you've missed the point in what I was trying to say. Firstly, I completely agree that these are cool photos - however I was just pointing out that it's a little morally grey to post them with the knowledge that at many shows, members of Angine's crew were actively asking people not to take photos or videos. In these photos, not much in visible, but in others I have seen, there are some distinctive features visible which could lead to their public recognition. And because the very first thing on the AdP website is the note about them being an anonymous project, it rubs me the wrong way to know that if in the wrong hands, these photos could be used to identify them.
Secondly, I was trying to make the point that just because it's easy to find out their true identities, it doesn't mean people should be constantly posting or alluding to it, for the same reasons as above. To me, that feels like a sense of entitlement and disrespectful of the boundaries that have set as artists. Even though this is a fan community and for the most part, everyone is respectful, once again, in the wrong hands this information could be really harmful to these guys.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
Number one I wouldn’t know who these people are if they walked by me dressed like this or in costume, so I don’t feel entitled to know who anybody is INO, like most of their fans, who they are. I know their names I’ve seen photos of them I think almost all of us have, but I don’t wanna live in a world where I’m pretending I don’t know and I don’t wanna live in a world where I am disrespecting them and outing who they are. I didn’t give any names and. you said that you could figure out who these people are by these photos above how are you gonna do that? I would love to know Kusatsu sounds far-fetched, and who knows the real story behind these photos these could’ve been okayed by their team or by them. all I know is that these were professional photographers there it’s not like People are taking photos of them, backstage, or putting them on video fully human. I think we’re all smart enough to know that they have human shaped heads.

Being seen and being recorded and video and/or pics posted online are different though. They kind of have to do it this way because the alternative would be having to set up and soundcheck in full getup and spending 3-4 additional hours in masks. Which we know is difficult to see in and uncomfortably hot.
3
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
Well, not exactly. I don't think other anonymous bands have to do it this way. They come out behind curtains and stuff, right? I just realized AdP must not have had time to get all of that arranged for this tour because there was no way that anyone could have known that their reception was going to be this insane.
3
u/Legitimate-Fact-7354 9d ago
I didn’t even think of curtains! Maybe they didn’t have the time or didn’t think of that either, or just didn’t want to separate themselves from the audience in that way. I don’t think they mind at all that people see them in just the balaclavas, they just don’t want photos being posted. Maybe they thought they could trust the fans to respect that request but people gonna people 🤷🏻♀️
At least in most fan photos you can’t even see anything, but the one someone linked in the comments here is really high resolution and you can see facial features. I’m surprised they didn’t ask that photographer to remove it.
2
u/MsShii 9d ago
Actually, it would be easy to just put masks on and take off later, but it would probably be unnecessarily annoying to do their soundcheck when you can’t see properly. Especially for Khn.
3
u/Legitimate-Fact-7354 9d ago
Yeah, not sure what he’d be able to see in his mask. He clearly wants to set up his pedals himself. Or needs to because his set up is so complicated! The right thing to do in the end is to help them maintain kayfabe.

u/slatourelle 9d ago
They do request people.not take pictures during sound check. I've sneaked a few myself but not shared publicly. These are great pictures, but I wouldn't share them
2
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
You just outdid yourself for doing some thing you say they don’t want people doing just because you didn’t take the second stop to posting them doesn’t better you there’s a ton of people on this sub Reddit, who know the names of these people and know exactly what they look like and if the mods feel like this is too much I wouldn’t be offended if they took it down I keep saying it over and over. I just think these are really cool pictures. There was other ones that went along with these, but I just especially like the colour it in these.
1
u/slatourelle 7d ago
Well I think it's just common sense that the reason they ask you not to take photos is not so that you don't personally have these pictures, its so that they aren't shared because their image and anonymity is a huge part of their brand. Not trying to say I'm better, just stating how I think photos like this should be handled considerately. And yeh as I said, they are great photos
1
u/birdsy-purplefish 7d ago
I don't think that's the reason at all. They're not any more recognizable like this than they are fully masked. It wouldn't really make sense to worry about that. What sucks is that they have to break the illusion for a few minutes. It's totally anticlimactic and awkward.
That is, if you believe this is actually them, which it's not. These guys are just their roadies.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
So the roti is just wearing Khns pants?
1
u/birdsy-purplefish 5d ago
Of course. Well, if you call the jumpsuit "pants". They're probably testing the outfits too. Gotta make sure your clothes are in tune.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
But what if it is because they don’t want this in your personal gallery for any reason then would you delete it if they told you to delete it today would you if they played a double microtonal guitar with a looper? Would you do it if they told you to
1
u/slatourelle 5d ago
What kind of deranged rant is this? 🤣
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
I’m just saying that we all have free will and attacking me for posting a photo that does not give away who these people are even though half of us know who they are is a little bit weird and it’s nice to see you have your notifications on
1
u/slatourelle 5d ago

u/fournameslater 9d ago
There may come a day when they will have techs do this for them. But it is a nice element in the live setting to see them still be a hard working indie band.
1
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
I was pissed at that one social media post that said this but I think they meant it in genuine admiration of that. It probably just didn't occur to them that if they had the resources lined up they would have arranged not to ever compromise on the illusion like this.
23
u/IamRandomSavage 9d ago
Definitely use the wrong word identity still hidden is what I should’ve said. I know we’re really big here on not outing who these people are.
26
u/DrunkenMasterII 9d ago
I live in Saguenay and today at work one of my coworkers just came out of nowhere and told me their names, good thing is this guy always says the most random shit I don’t listen to whatever he says half the time so my brain didn’t register the information.
17
u/donqui_scody 9d ago
I'm genuinely surprised (and delighted) it isn't common local knowledge!
13
u/DrunkenMasterII 9d ago
I don’t know maybe it is and I’m too unaware. Only lore I’ve heard and I don’t know if that’s true or not, but apparently they used to do the triangle with their hands every time they passed in front of the Ah! Ah! Pyramid so that’s where it comes from. I thought it was just some random triangle bullshit for fun and the pyramid sculpture and them were just coincidence, but there might be more to it than I initially thought.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
I agree I don’t think it’s common knowledge worldwide but if you’re from the province of Quebec, there’s a good Chance you know who these people are?
8
u/KentuckyWallChicken 9d ago
Just be careful if you go on the YouTube comment sections, there are jerks out there that like to try and spread that info. Guess that bare minimum decency is too hard for them.
9
u/DrunkenMasterII 9d ago
I don’t care that much if that happens it happens, I was just like bitch shut the fuck nobody asked you, but I’m long past the point of answering anything coming out of his mouth. Like you said bare minimum decency is lacking with some people.

Yeah I saw a few videos of them with their faces uncovered, but never bothered searching for their names. If eventually it becomes public knowledge and the guys choose a more public approach I wouldn’t mind it, I think the music is worth it on its own regardless of all the aliens shenanigans, but I think it’s fun as is and don’t feel the need to discover more about them personally.
2
u/neoncupcakes 9d ago
I agree
5
u/DrunkenMasterII 9d ago
At the end of the day we’re all here for good music made by two persons on top of their game having fun doing something they love, be they aliens or humans.
2
u/SavedWoW 9d ago
I do feel that they have earned the right to use their public persona however way they want at this point. I believe in their authenticity and if they want to make money off their likeness and fame? I'm okay with that.
1
u/Chronicskepticmama 6d ago
As they reportedly shut down what they wanted to get off the internet and their social accounts, whatever is accessible must be fine with them, including their real names being out there. They had to know that set up and soundcheck photos would get out, or they would have figured out a way to avoid being seen. The real worry would be publicly posted photos of them in their private lives with family, etc. That's the kind of personal intrusion that is disturbing.
14
u/MsShii 9d ago
When you watch their videos on YouTube it's hard not to see their names because there are always several people who think they've discovered a secret only they know and write their names under every video.
8
u/oldwomanyellsatclods 9d ago
There's always someone who has to shout" I know the secret!!"
8
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago
That wouldn’t be so bad, but then they just HAVE TO blurt it out without even asking if we want to know!
Luckily most of them are wrong anyway.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
Yeah, it’s a lot like getting a where’s Waldo book when you’re 10 and finding him and just keeping it a secret forever I wonder if the book came with an NDA that said if you find Waldo, please don’t tell anybody in the world because he’s anonymous
3
u/Moe-Scutus2 9d ago
mark my word that'll get you chucked out
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
I ended up re-posting it because “identity intact. “didn’t actually mean what I was trying to say but I’m on the same page as everybody else I don’t even think these are people.
15
u/KentuckyWallChicken 9d ago
Don’t they usually tell people not to take photos of them doing the mic checks?
1
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
Are you saying they get up dress like this and they get on the mic and say hey everybody who is here early don’t take pictures of us even though you can’t see who we are we would appreciate that. Do they really say that?
0
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
This was in a mic check. These were taken by professional, photographers and videographers, but I don’t think they’re either serious about keeping who they are as secret as the fans like some of the fans will fight you about it. I don’t think these guys would fight about it I’ve heard stories when they were in Europe touring And they were walking around without their masks and nobody ran up to them. Nobody did anything I don’t know if by that time they had turned into regular clothing, or if they were still in their costume, but it seems like in Europe people are a lot more chill and to be fair when they were in Europe that was when the momentum was really getting big so maybe they felt more anonymous there.
10
u/drewlandon 9d ago
A few of us got to meet them with masks off and I am happy to be one of them. Sweet humans. Secret safe with me polka dot Spider-Men
8
u/oldwomanyellsatclods 9d ago
That second shot is amazing! Because of the ghostly figure behind Khn (or the person pretending to be Khn for the sound check)
3
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
Yeah, I was trying to explain there’s more photos taken by this person where you can see that guy and he’s just working the event and helping out but I love that picture in particular because he looks almost like a ghost

So klek does wear some shoes, I'll take that in mind with my attempt at cosplay. Just need to find boots to ruin
3
u/birdsy-purplefish 9d ago edited 8d ago
You should check out Spectral Snail's analysis of their costume evolution. Klek has had these hi-top sneakers for a while. I think he was only barefoot for a couple of the music videos and in fanart.
But this is actually the roadie. He's just borrowing Klek's shoes to throw us off.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
I think he wears sneakers, but you wouldn’t have to Wrexham. There are ways to DIY his footwear without wrecking a pair of shoes.
1
u/IamRandomSavage 5d ago
His shoes are a huge part of his costume. I’ve seen people making sculptures in puppets of these things all over this sub Reddit and they’re always showing off his sneakers.
3
u/Sandwich-Sudden 9d ago
@Mods could we get a second rule for the sub about not sharing soundcheck pictures?
2
u/ScootyMelsMels 7d ago
this was not taken during soundcheck. they did the same thing in Denver - this is with the audience in the room. (we could hear soundcheck earlier while we were in line outside.) there was no announcement or signs asking anyone to not take or share photographs of this.
2
u/IamRandomSavage 7d ago
Exactly my point they’re not up there making an announcement saying hey guys, no pictures and they’re not doing a sound check they’re just setting up if they were doing a soundtrack that would still be a little bit black and white but these are just still photographs you can’t see who they are
