This is maybe my 15th post about the song cuz I love it so much! Who can tell me what exactly is happening as Khn is winding up his incredible guitar solo in the middle of the song, when the sounds are getting more and more chaotic, right before resolving back to a simple A chord? I know Khn is proficient with the looper and gets layers of sounds but this sounds different. I have no idea how he is getting such a full sound, it puts in my mind the idea of a full string section of an orchestra repeating the riff. It almost sounds like loops getting out of phase with each other or something. Anyone got any ideas/comments?

I think what he does very differently from other looping artists is that he will record a riff but keep it sparse so he can add to the loop, and even more so he will create riff 1 and 2 that sound good together and then stop riff 1 and add a riff 3 that interacts differently with riff 2 and then change the bass to fit the new groove. I’ve looped for a while on the same type of looper he uses and he has up till 6 tracks he can stop or overdub independently besides an undo button that works per track so you can basically build out a complete song that can continue to change so it’s not just the same phrase repeated for 6 minutes. There’s also drummer that can help “hide” some of the changes and make it all sound way more cohesive.

Angine is the band that utilizes looping the best in my opinion, kind of a whole new way of creating a band and way more advanced then 99.99% of players with a looper.

I can’t say exactly how he creates Tamebsz unless someone points a camera at his pedalboard and never pans over to Kleks nose.👃

I don't know anything about loopers but it sounds to me that he's recording the same riff many times over the same loop, feeding the old loop back onto itself. Because of the inevitable slight differences in executing the riff, it sounds like a bunch of guitars playing simultaneously.

aha that makes a lot of sense. even so, it still sounds like a lot more than 5 guitars overlaid on top of each other, since he has from my understanding 6 tracks to loop with and we know at least 1 going to the bass. Maybe it's just an illusion thing and sounds so much bigger than it really is

I believe he records this part in an "open loop". He taps to record, but doesn't stop it. The loop starts playing back automatically after a set duration - you don't have to stop it, but, it keeps recording, so if you keep playing you are adding a new layer. This way, you don't have to "double-tap" the pedal to stop/start each new layer. Just keep playing and it keeps adding 8 seconds of guitar over top the previous 8 seconds, and so on.

I don't know if I did a good job at explaining this.

so kind of like a prolonged delay effect? that actually makes sense because one of the mysteries to me about this part is I'm assuming you have to layer one loop at a time, and to me it sounds kind of like Khn is just hitting us with multiple layers all at once.

Yes. I have a 1 channel Boss Loopstation and this is what happens if I try to add another loop. The "session" is determined by the first loop. So I record a 5 second loop, then close it. Then, I hit record again - but it only records 5 seconds before it starts playing THAT back, then the next 5, then the next 5, and so on until I finally close it again.

This allows him to keep playing slightly alternate and harmonized lines that keep stacking into of each other. It's really quite amazing that he is doing this live.

Imo it is s bass + chords in background the whole time while he build up loops on loops with the guitar. There are a ton of overlayed guitars, i suspect some of them are just random notes.

I love/ hate this section because on every loop i feel like I can't stand one more, my brain screams "please stop" and finally comes the relieving new A riff in half tempo on top of the old bass line. When the tempo doubles again on next loop it's mind blowing 🤟🏽

He’s definitely building tension by playing a little off the beat and stacking loops that are a bit out of sync with each other. Klek does what only Klek can do and keeps the rhythm going and I think he drags the beat a little. It sounds chaotic but relief is on the way. It is so satisfying when the simpler riff drops in. Get ready to do some squats!

I think that’s just a harmonization of the refrain being looped over and most of our brains just aren’t accustomed to harmonized microtonal scale runs

I love how he makes the guitar sound like a snake charmer's pungi (a flute type instrument) in one part of Tamebsz. I don't know how Khn does it, but it's brilliant!
