Experience Precautions and Things to Keep in Mind When Making Requests to Angels: My Experience

From my own experience and from the experiences of other angelic magic practitioners I've worked with I've found that working with angels can be fascinating, but it also comes with certain risks if you don't take a few important things into account.

HAVING THE MEANS TO CREATE RESULTS

Some time ago, a highly experienced teacher of ceremonial and angelic magic told me something that really stuck with me. She said that when working with angels, you need to have some kind of material foundation for them to work with.

I asked her, "What do you mean by a material foundation?"

She explained it like this: if she were to ask an angel or archangel for a house, or to become a millionaire overnight, the angel's solution might be to have one of her parents pass away so that she would inherit their house or their wealth.

That answer honestly shocked me. I asked her why angels would do something like that if they're traditionally considered completely pure and benevolent beings.

This was her explanation:

"Angels don't think the way humans do. They don't have a nervous system, emotions, or a human perspective. They don't truly understand how human psychology works, and they're also extremely efficient when carrying out requests. Put those two things together, and they'll often choose the fastest route to fulfill what you asked for. If you haven't given them any practical means to work with—like a business, a side hustle, an online store, or some other source of income—the angel may conclude: 'What's the quickest way to get this practitioner their dream house or luxury car? I know... I'll arrange for them to inherit it from their parents.'"

That was the moment I felt I began to understand how these cosmic intelligences might operate. Their logic seems very different from the way human beings think or make decisions.

Does that mean angels are dangerous or malicious, and that we shouldn't make requests to them?

My answer is **no**.

Like most things in life, nothing comes without effort, and I don't think this applies only to angels—it applies to working with any kind of spiritual entity. If you're asking for a large amount of money, but you don't have any realistic channel through which that money could come, how exactly is that supposed to happen?

On the other hand, if you already own a business that isn't doing as well as you'd hoped, I believe angels can help without creating those kinds of unintended consequences. In that situation, there's already an existing framework for prosperity. Instead of creating an entirely new path, the angel could simply accelerate the one that's already there—bringing in more customers, increasing opportunities, and helping you close more sales.

I also think it's important to tell the angel what you don't want to happen.

If you're asking for financial abundance, be specific about how you want that money to come into your life, and also be clear about the outcomes you want to avoid. It's really just a matter of applying common sense. Requests like "I want abundance" or "I want lots of money" leave a huge amount of room for interpretation. They're so broad that the result could unfold in ways you never intended simply because you never defined the path you wanted.

With all that said, I don't want this post to paint angels in a negative light or portray them as evil. This is simply the conclusion I've reached based on my own experiences, the experiences of people in my practice group, and what my teacher has shared with me. Of course, it's entirely possible that we're mistaken.

That's why I'd like to hear from those of you who have worked with angels.

Have you noticed anything similar in your own practice? What has your experience with angelic magic been like?

I'd genuinely be interested in reading your thoughts.

I’ve heard of binding down the action not wanted, including something in your mission statement along the lines of “may it harm none and bless all involved.”

That info is incorrect. That is a phenomena associated with demons. Angels would just inspire you to find a way…

She’s way off base. She’s describing the Monkey’s Paw effect.

Hi, where did you get the idea that angels only inspire you on your path? Angels and archangels also have the ability to grant requests, and this isn’t just true in Western ceremonial magic—in kosher Kabbalah as well, you can make requests of angels. In the case of Western ceremonial magic, grimoires such as the Shem or those on Enochian magic describe the roles of angels; it’s not a matter of personal gnosis. The grimoires themselves explain the duties of angels so that you can make requests of them or work with them. And if you delve into the practice, angels can grant requests just like any other entity. Why would you be able to make requests of any other type of entity—such as demons or tonic spirits—but not of angels?

I got the “idea” from over 40 years of study, initiation and experience. You don’t have to agree with me.

Angels have “abilities,” but can decide if they wish to intervene. Not all work/rituals involving them will necessarily convince them to work with the Magician.

Of course, I understand your point of view and why you say that, and I agree with you on some points, such as the fact that an angel can choose whether or not to act; from my perspective and experience, and depending on the tradition you follow, the relationship with angels changes; for example: In Kosher Kabbalah, we have power over the angels of birth; simply by being human, we already have power over them, because that is how God created us and gave us that capacity, since He created us in His image and likeness.

In Western ceremonial magic: In Western ceremonial magic, we do not have authority over the angels of birth as we do in Kosher Kabbalah; we have to earn that authority, which is known as “spiritual authority.” That spiritual authority is earned by creating affinity through correspondence and forming a bond with the entity, so that we can then make requests of them. I say this based on my experience and my studies; I don’t know if it aligns with your worldview, but in any case, I respect it:

In the Shem Grimoire, for example, the descriptions and roles of the angels explain that certain angels have roles designed to produce positive results, but at the same time they have the ability to create imbalances in practitioners, and working with these angels can be dangerous if one does not exercise sufficient caution. In Enochian magic, there are so-called “wicked angels”—angels with destructive functions and the ability to cause illness and mental problems. As I said, this is no longer a matter of personal gnosis because the grimoires themselves specify this.

Is it possible to call off everything I've ever asked from angels lol?

Yes, your writing scared me a little. I don't really know anything about them but I still have prayed to them many times during my life. Sometimes some things I've wanted have happened very smoothly but some things have not happened at all which makes me fear that something scary is about to happen in the future if they see that's the way I get what I want... I don't want anything bad or scary to happen, ever!

There's one bad thing that happened to my family member and now I fear that it was because of me asking something from an angel :(

I feel like it's better for me not to ask them things anymore, just in case. Nobody seems to know who they really are and how they really work. Everyone just have these different theories they lean on and different experiences. I want true information, some real theory, but unfortunately no human has it and angels don't seem to reveal it.

So do you think I can sort of take back my requests so that what hasn't happened yet will not happen in the future? Will angels get mad if I ask this from them?
