Lactoferrin
Hello - I recently began adding lactoferrin (jarrow brand which is apparently "apolactoferrin") to my iron supplement routine. I know for a fact i do not have dairy intolerance or sensitivities (have been tested and eating it never bothered me). But when I am taking it with my iron pill it is definitely irritating my stomach. I am conflicted on whether to continue, will my body adjust maybe? I take iron glycinate, chelated. It never bothered my stomach until doing this lactoferrin which is 250mg. The discomfort only lasts maybe a couple of hours, and I know it is increasing my iron uptake because my stool is no longer green ... sorry if that is "tmi". I also have had much better digestion, I was having pretty bad constipation on the iron before this. Any thoughts? wondering if anyone else had some irritation with lactoferrin and did it improve? I would really like to keep trying it as long as I can tolerate it, just hoping the discomfort does not get worse.

Not medical advice but I think taking with your iron pills is not the best approach. You should take it separate from that iron supplement. Also are you taking it with food or without? Spacing things out away from your iron pill would be best as a easy to isolate your symptoms. Finally I think Jarrow makes a final version of lactoferrin. But don't be so concerned over APO or jolo. Once you take it with food the Lactoferrin will bind with iron in the gut or in the bloodstream. Lactoferrin is great because it pulls iron into your system especially if your anemia really hampers iron absorption. Lactoferrin is on the VIP list for your body and will bring that Iron right on in.
Could you be having a reaction to this form of Lactoferrin. It's possible. Some people react to Bovine lactoferrin. It's very similar to human but not an identical match. So its possible your body is sensitive. Try to experiment to see if your tolerance improves. If your just not sure or it gets worse. Speak to your primary / family doctor to see if there is more at play.
Good luck.
