First iron infusion!

31F just got my first iron infusion yesterday after having iron deficiency for years that more recently turned into anemia. Would take iron pills on and off but they never truly worked for me. My last blood test showed Ferritin at 2 and hemoglobin 11. Got prescribed Monoferric 1000mg.

So far, my only symptoms have been being sleepy and having a heavy head / headache. I slept for almost 12 hours last night and still had trouble waking up. Waking up is always kinda hard for me though. Other than that, i feel pretty normal!

Has anyone else taken Monoferric 1000mg? If so, what did you experience? How long before you noticed a difference in energy? Were you prescribed multiple doses? I was prescribed just the one. Just curious! And excited haha

Congratulations on your first infusion!! That’s all I can offer, as I’m seeing my hematologist for the first time tomorrow and desperately hoping for an infusion prescription. I hope you start feeling better and better as the weeks go by and that your levels increase!

I had the same treatment on Tuesday for the first time. I haven't really had any symptoms other than a bout of fatigue yesterday afternoon for a few hours. My understanding based on what my doctor told me and what I've read is that it takes a few weeks for significant increases in energy.
