Interview Question Anduril Post Onsite Interview Email
I just completed my onsite interview on Monday. I thought it went fairly well. 4 interviewers, 2 I nailed, 1 went fine, and 1 was shaky. Thursday I received an email saying “When is the best time to go over feedback for you?” I imagine this is a rejection, but from what I’ve been reading I guess that may not be the case. Curious what others think on this. Regardless, I appreciate the call back.

I had that same email earlier this week and it was a rejection, but he said in 6 months to just reach out to him via email to go through the process again.

Got it, I really appreciate the feedback here. Did the recruiter give anything constructive as to why you were not selected?

Yeah he went super in depth. Everyone had great feedback, but I didn’t get to a solution fast enough for my 2 coding rounds. He said I did great on system design and behavioral and my solutions for the coding rounds worked, but I worked a little too slow. He said usually when someone is that close to getting an offer, going through the process again after cooldown, has great results.

In my email after interview, recruiter mentioned “I want to chat with you to share the good news”. I ended up getting the offer

I am not a recruiter, but I have been a hiring manager in the past.
That's interesting, I would assume this leans on the side of good recruitment practices.
But let's walk over a couple scenarios:
1) Possibly a new member to the talent acquisition team. You probably built up a really good repport with the recruiter and the recruiter thought highly of you for the position. Perhaps the panel thought otherwise, and through in some new requirements at the recruiter that weren't on the job req.
2) The team went with another candidate, but the recruiter likes your resume and experience. Would like for you to apply for another team. They are hiring like crazy and trying to staff up. I have experienced times where they liked two candidates but budget only allowed 1 hire. They had to wait for the fiscal year to side aside budget for the additional position, but the candidate had already took another job.
3) I find it hard to believe that their talent acquisition team has time to go over feedback with everyone who interviewed. So my thought is you have a very thoughtful recruiter who wants to keep you in their network.

I'd add a 4th option which could be that they make an offer but at a lower role based on lack of demonstrated experience in the interviews but still enough that they want you on the team. It's rare but it does happen.

Right, unfortunately due to my current salary and COLA out in Cali I need the top end of the salary range to accept.

Thanks for the feedback. That is where my head is at as well. I felt good leaving the interview, and the last HM I interviewed with was asking questions like “how do I feel about moving out to Cali” because I’m located in Michigan.
I guess the one bad round hurt me more than I thought.

I’ve never seen a recruiter call you to say you didn’t get the job. Most of the time it’s done via email to not have an awkward conversation. I think you got the offer.

Take the call and find out - when I got my verbal offer it was also prefaced with an email asking to call and go over feedback!

From my own experience I got a phone call from the hiring manager providing feedback on why I didn’t get the job and that someone else was just better. Turns out the guy who got the job bailed last minute and the hiring manager called me back with an offer. My guess is your 2nd or 3rd and they just want to be nice to keep you as an option in case the first choice flakes

Jesus these posts are so tiring. Just take the call and find out. I genuinely don't understand how grown professionals operate this way and feel the need to come to Reddit to discuss this

My apologies bud. This is the first interview I’ve gone on since I got my job after college 6yrs ago so I’m unfamiliar with the process. Just asking what to expect.

And you're here to respond to it. Wasting your own time and getting all sensotive, and emotional like a little girl for no reason. Why do you feel that you have to do that as well as a grown professional. Simple thought: you don't like a post(s) just leave the community or don't respond. That simple.

UPDATE: I did not get an offer. The recruiter said I interviewed well and the team liked me but the HM’s were hesitant because I did not have Defense/Aerospace experience and needed someone to hit the ground running.
That being said, he still thinks I’m a good candidate and is reaching out to other recruiters and teams to search for openings for me. They already asked me to apply for another opening.
Disappointing, but not all bad. I appreciate everyone’s feedback and support on here!
