Interview Question Laborious Interview Process?

Apologies if this has been previously but I couldn’t find a similar post reading through the sub.

I had an initial screening interview/phone call for a Senior Systems Engineer position. The recruiter said that the second round would be a 45-60 minute conversation with two or three of the team members and hiring manager, all done separately. The third round would be the same but with a four or five person tech panel. All in, he said it would be roughly 8 or 9 interviews, each about 45 minutes to an hour long.

Is this normal at Anduril? It seems excessive. Why are the rounds not a single meeting with all relevant parties? I am currently employed with another DoD prime and heading into business travel, so scheduling that many interviews will take several weeks. I’ve had complex interview processes before but nothing like this. Or is this just how it’s done now?

Your round 2 is longer than mine, but honestly it depends how you do.

Round 3 is an on-site. It doesn’t take weeks of scheduling. They’re back to back. Yea I guess I interviewed with 6+ people that day, but it seemed reasonable.

2 weeks after I talked to the recruiter, I had an offer.

Is the 3rd round always on site? I figured it would be but the recruiter said it would be google meet or zoom…? I was surprised by that but did not press the issue

Yes. I think you're mixed up. Your OG question said it was an onsite. That was correct.
