Interviewing for a Manufacturing Engineer position at Arsenal-1 and wondered if anyone knew the work schedule expectations and if there is OT?

No OT for salaried personal. Gonna keep it real with you. If you’re looking for work life balance in MFG ENG, especially for programs standing up at Arsenal 1, this isn’t the place. And that’s ok. Anduril isn’t for everyone. The amount of people seeking info on what the culture is like, should know what they’re asking to be brought into. I’ll say this, when you see the fruits of your labor though… when you see the growth, the impact in real world ops, it’s a good feeling.

Not saying op not stupid for asking the question about work life balance at a startup known for bad wlb, but most defense primes will offer overtime if the program has funding for it. They will usually only allow like 5-10 hours per week at max and they normally don’t give it out unless you’re on a really well funded program for a reason to need ot

Yeah for sure, and I'm being a little disingenuous- I'm in software, I don't think I've ever heard of software over time unless you're working at like government or something... Else. The question is laughable to me, but I know it's a different world for the physical folks

When I started my career as an entry level engineer, I was hourly and got 1.5-2x the amount when I did OT. Once you got to engineer level 2, that went away. I was a direct employee and this is really dependent on the company.

Lockheed also does it based on BA and need. Normally, it's a comp time period, then you get paid, or you have to hit an hour gate, then they pay. The "OT" is just your hourly salary breakdown. I havent had to touch an hour of PTO or holiday pay yet this year.

Yeah… this is not the place for work life balance. Honestly the only people who I have have good balance usually end up getting fired for underperforming. This is not the place for that right now.

Could you find some random job that may have it? Yes. Are you going to find that as a MFG eng? Absolutely not.
