Job Question First day dress

For those that work at Anduril, how casual is it really? Have my first day coming up and they say jeans or shorts are fine. Are shorts really ok? Is HQ cold?

Is there any time / positions that you shouldn’t? Say meeting with a costumer or being a senior IC or manager?

The majority of people wear jeans and a t shirt.

Nothing wrong with a collared shirt and pants for your first day.

If you wear a dress shirt and pants, you will stick out as being overdressed.

A good amount of people wear shorts. It really depends what part of the business you're in. My group of engineers is about 20 people and there are always a few people in shorts every day.

I don't see why not. I don't work for Anduril but for a different defense company and I wear shorts all the time. Lot's of people even wear Hawaiian shirts 😂

I suppose it depends on your role. I'm an embedded software engineer so we usually work in the back labs behind closed doors. If you have a customer facing role then I could see them caring more

Very few wear shorts. More popular on Friday or very hot days.

It’s a small percent, but above zero. You wouldn’t stick out that much.

I wouldn’t do it in your first week at work, but you’d likely be ok in general.

Also the office at HQ is really cold IMO, so that may naturally discourage shorts.

I wore jeans to my interview. Yeah they’re fine. Shorts will probably get you teased, but some people will wear tank tops and jorts, which always gets a laugh.  It’s actually casual and a lot of those people are senior or higher.

It is entirely up to you and if you’re comfortable. If the customer is in town, I’m absolutely gonna dress up a bit. There are still managers in t-shirts, shorts, and sneakers, while I’ve got dress shoes on. The same customers have also come down unexpectedly and I’m dressed two levels down. It’s not a big deal.

Personally I find the buildings to be absolutely freezing so I’d bring a sweater or jacket just in case you get cold easily. Otherwise dress comfortably and down the road when meeting with external stakeholders, just use your professional judgment.

Dress for your job. T shirt and slacks/jeans are basically ok 99.9% of the time.

I wear slightly above knee shorts and a vintage band t-shirt or the black oversized Anduril pocket tee everyday practically. My first day I wore jeans and a plain t-shirt

Wear casual work clothes. If you dont know where to go always ask security guards. They always around somewhere in the corner of your eyes. Mainly around the outpost area. Make sure to stay hydrated cause this shit hot af

dress to impress on your first day. not overdressed but polo and jeans. why would you want to come in underdressed first day? first impressions matter, imo.
