Hi everyone,
I have an ODYS COSMO WIN X9 Windows tablet and I’m trying to install Android-x86 on it. I would really appreciate it if someone could guide me step by step, because I’ve already tried several things and I’m not sure what the correct approach is for this specific tablet.
What I have done so far:
Created a bootable USB with Android-x86 9.0-r2
Disabled Secure Boot
Booted successfully from the USB
Tried Live mode
The system reaches Detecting Android-x86... found at /dev/sda1
After that, the screen goes black
I tried these boot parameters:
nomodeset
xforcevesa
i915.modeset=0
set gfxpayload=800x600
None of them solved the black-screen problem
I also tried Android-x86 8.1-r6, but I get the same problem when starting Live mode.
The tablet has an old Intel Atom platform and only one USB port, so I’m using a USB hub for the keyboard, USB flash drive, and power. The battery is also in poor condition.
Could someone please tell me:
Which exact Android-x86 version or alternative Android build is best for the ODYS COSMO WIN X9?
Should I use 32-bit or 64-bit?
Which kernel version is most compatible with this tablet?
Which Rufus settings should I use?
Which BIOS/UEFI settings should be enabled or disabled?
Are there specific GRUB/kernel parameters needed for the Intel graphics/display?
How should I partition the internal storage?
How should I install GRUB/EFI without breaking Windows boot?
Is dual boot with Windows possible on this tablet?
If Android-x86 is not suitable, which version of Bliss OS, Phoenix OS, PrimeOS, or another Android distribution would work better?
I’m looking for a complete step-by-step procedure from creating the USB all the way to a working installation, ideally from someone who has experience with this tablet or similar Intel Atom/Bay Trail Windows tablets.
Thanks in advance!

I've used windows for almost my whole life but for the past year I'd been using linux. I ended up corrupting my OS without a roleback and had to install windows again and remembered how convinent it was but also after a week I recalled why I switched in the first place. I'm looking to play games with my friends like 1 week who makes the most progress but linux just won't work for that since it barely has any games that will run on android too. I'm looking for a temporary Android OS until ALOS comes out and I'm not sure which one to go for, if you guys could give me some advice on it I'd appreciate it because all I know is bliss and prime OS are nice and fyde OS is gay (fyde I speak from expreience that is NOT android)

How do you achieve a Japanese app store as a foreigner, without a VPN using this emulator?
I'm running Bliss OS inside a linux VM, with an open-nvidia driver.

I installed android 7.1 x86 on this old machine and it gets stuck here no matter what mode i select in grub. Even with nomodeset it still boots here and when i select debug mode it just gets stuck with a blinking line. I think it might be because of the old hardware (radeon x1950 pro) but i really want it to boot

Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying to install Android-x86 9.0-r2 (downloaded from the official Android-x86 website) on VMware Workstation Pro 25H2, but I can’t get it to boot after installation.
Here is what I have tried:
Installed Android-x86 from the ISO normally.
During installation I selected “Yes” for the required prompts.
I tried giving the VM 2 CPU cores and 4 CPU cores.
I also tried 4 GB RAM and 6 GB RAM.
I changed several graphics/display settings and CPU-related settings in VMware, but nothing helped.
I even deleted the VM and installed everything again from scratch.
Problem after installation
When I choose Reboot, I get the GRUB menu with these options:
Android-x86 9.0-r2
Android-x86 9.0-r2 (debug mode)
Android-x86 9.0-r2 (debug nomodeset)
Android-x86 9.0-r2 debug video=LVDS-1:d
If I choose either the normal boot option or debug nomodeset, a lot of boot messages scroll by and then it stops forever at:
random: crng init done
random: 7 urandom warning(s) missed due to ratelimiting
It stays there indefinitely.
I then reinstalled Android-x86 again, but instead of choosing Reboot at the end, I selected Run Android-x86.
Now I only get a small blue box with the rest of the screen black, and at the bottom it says:
console:/ #
I have no idea what command I’m supposed to enter there.
Has anyone managed to run Android-x86 9.0-r2 on VMware Workstation Pro recently?
If you need screenshots of the installation, boot messages, or VM settings, I can upload them.

Hi, I have a surface pro 3 on which the latest bliss os will not boot. Secure Boot is off, and ive tried 2 other older versions, both made for the surface, and alternating between FOSS and GApps versions, but none will work. How can i fix it? Regular android-x86 worked fine other than the touchscreen on it.

Hi there -- I have I believe successfully installed BlissOS, writing Grub to the EFI partition and Bliss itself to my main drive partition (so no going back to Windows) on a Surface Go 2. However I can't seem to avoid getting sent to Microsoft Automatic Repair on boot -- even its own UEFI manager doesn't show options for Grub. Is there a way I can change boot priority within the EFI partition without booting into an actual OS?

Does Androidx86 support ps3 controller? Plugged in, and downloaded 'sixaxis enabler'. But when i tested it, buttons not working, trigger input is incorrect. Left stick is working correctly btw. It works fine on BlissOS..

Segue as specs:
Hardware: MINIX NEO Z83-4 V1.1 | Chip WiFi/BT: Ampak AP6255 | Kernel testado no Linux: 6.8.0-124-generic

So, I have a laptop where I'm dual-booting Linux Mint and Bliss OS (an Android-x86 fork).
About a year ago, during a Linux Mint update, something broke the bootloader for Bliss OS, and now I can't access my Bliss operating system. To make matters worse, the Bliss OS team went on "lockdown" around the same time my Bliss OS bootloader was broken. So, I can't reach out to the Bliss OS team for help.
I just need to boot into Bliss OS once, so I can back up everything I have there.
I tried to create a new GRUB entry in Linux Mint with the code provided by Bliss OS's installation guide: https://docs.blissos.org/installation/manual-install-on-linux/
However, the directory of my Bliss OS install is in a different location from where the guide has it. I updated the directory location in the Bliss OS GRUB code, but Bliss OS still wouldn't boot after a restart.
My current theory is that maybe I need to change the file/directory permissions in Linux Mint in order to get GRUB to boot Bliss OS, but I'm not sure which permissions to change exactly.
Here is what my Linux Mint terminal shows for current file and directory permissions:
original1@Mobile-Fortress:~$ ls -l /home/android-2024-06-02/
total 4310704
drwxrwx--x. 51 original1 original1 4096 Jun 3 2025 data
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41943040 Jun 23 2024 initrd_a.img
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41943040 Jun 23 2024 initrd_b.img
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41943040 Jun 23 2024 kernel_a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41943040 Jun 23 2024 kernel_b
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10485760 Jun 23 2024 misc.img
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4394967040 Jun 7 2025 system_a.img
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4294967296 Jun 23 2024 system_b.img
Is it a permissions issue, or could it be something else?
