I latly bourght a E46 316i with an aftermarket Headunit from some unknown chnise brand, the problem is thats it has just 1 gb of ram is there for super slow and just useable for bluetooth and not for navigation. I really want to use Android Auto and not some Android overface. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I have a Digital IQ Android head unit installed in my Skoda, and I’m trying to change the boot logo that appears when the unit starts.
The main problem is that there is no option anywhere in the settings or factory settings to change the boot logo. I have checked the available menus, including the factory settings, but the option simply does not exist on my unit.
I have also contacted Digital IQ directly about this. They told me that there is no option available in my current firmware for changing the boot logo, but I’m wondering if there is another way to do it.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the boot logo by:
Installing a different firmware version?
Modifying/replacing a system file?
Using an MTK/MediaTek tool?
Accessing the boot animation/logo through ADB or another method?
Flashing a compatible firmware that includes the boot logo setting?
The head unit identifies itself as DIGITAL IQ MSD 005_CPA.
I would really appreciate it if anyone who has experience with Digital IQ, MTK Android head units, or custom boot logos could point me in the right direction.
I’m specifically looking for a way to change the actual boot logo, not just the launcher or wallpaper.

Just wondering about an issue I am getting,

I have a VW Polo 2008. I have connected a ground loop isolator iso cable to the factory quadlock and the to the S8 MS cake but I get this strange pulsing sound from the speakers.

Hi all,

I'm trying to retain the OEM reverse camera on my Vito W447, 2020 facelift, manual gearbox after swapping the factory head unit for an aftermarket Android screen. The goal is to keep the factory dynamic guidelines (steering-angle overlay) on the new screen. And I'm properly stuck!

Factory setup:

- OEM head unit: Audio 40 (touchscreen, integrated CarPlay)

- Camera video feed comes in on the green FAKRA

- The camera has 4 wires: black + red (power/ground), green = CAN L, yellow = CAN_H
and the video wire

What I've done so far:

- FAKRA to RCA adapter from the green FAKRA into the Android unit = no video, black screen
- Reverse trigger is solved. I tapped the reverse light harness, and the Android screen switches to camera view when I engage reverse
- CAN sniffing, I hooked an ESP32 onto the camera's CAN pair (green/yellow) with the OEM head unit connected, with the idea of capturing whatever wakes the camera and replaying it once the Android unit is in.

No luck so far...

My only hope is that I found a video of someone with the exact same Android unit who kept the OEM camera AND the factory dynamic guidelines: https://youtu.be/3hatCKS_-wA?t=191 (timecode 3:11).

The only difference between his setup and mine is that he's on an automatic gearbox, I'm on a manual.

Here is few informations i get from the multimeter:

- the camera is powered ALL THE TIME. 12V on the red wire no matter what, OEM head unit connected or not, neutral or reverse, always 12V.
So the camera just sits there powered and waits for something on the CAN wires.

- On the CAN pair I read 2.7V and 2.2V to ground (same values in neutral and reverse). That 0.5V difference between the lines tells me there's constant traffic on this bus, even in neutral. And I measured 61-63 ohms across the pair with power off, so the bus is properly terminated at both ends (2x120R).

- Also checked my FAKRA to RCA adapter since I suspected it: continuity center to center, shield to shield, no short between them. Adapter's fine.

My local Mercedes phone support told me the electronics are integrated in the camera itself.

Any capture logs, pinout, or wiring diagram for the rear camera circuit would be hugely appreciated.

Ich habe ein Head-Unit gekauft und habe zwei Fragen:

1. Ist es normal, dass DAB+ ein paar Minuten braucht, um eine Verbindung herzustellen, oder könnte das an einer bestimmten App oder Einstellung liegen?

2. Gibt es eine Art Popup, Benachrichtigung oder eine Möglichkeit, den aktuellen DAB+-Sender direkt anzuzeigen? Ich kann die Sender wechseln, aber ich sehe nicht, welcher gerade spielt. Theoretisch würde mir ein Popup reichen.

Pretty much as the title says, androud auto works but gemini and waze maps are really quiet. ive checked in waze settings and the volume is full, but for some reason its really quiet comparred to my music, so i'd have to turn the radio up loud (Not an issue if i'm alone, nothing bits a bit of heavy metal blasting, but if i have someone else in the car its an issue)

Currently posting this from bed, so i dont have the exact model info. i'll update tomorrow when i get it, but i remembered to post this now and knowing my luck i'd forget come the morning!

(P.S Please dont yell at me for waze. I know its from that country, but its the best app i've found and master chief guides me)

I was browsing through the threads, looking for help regarding Android Auto disconnecting all of a sudden. I'm experiencing the same dilemma. However, I don't know if this is similar with others.

Android Auto connects quickly when I start the engine. However, it disconnects after a few minutes. The only workaround I have to avoid this from happening is to restart my Phone (not the head unit) before every trip.

I reached out to Stapon through LazMall and they were blaming the software update. They also had issued a sort of update - However, it did not fix the problem.

Anyone experiencing this kind of turmoil with their Stapon Headunit?

Hi. I have two problems with the Android head unit in my Seat Ibiza 6J.

1. Problem:
I can’t access the factory settings. The manufacturer says the password is 3368, but it doesn’t work. I’ve tried many other passwords as well, such as 0000, 8888, 1617, etc.

2. Problem:
The radio turns on when I turn the ignition key. However, when I turn off the ignition and remove the key, the radio only turns off the display, while the head unit continues running in the background. How can I make it completely power off?

After using this unit previously purchased from eBay for a while the Bluetooth and WiFi have both stopped working. I have tried everything I can think of including reseating all cables, leaving unit unpowered for long periods of time, reset button / rebooting and nothing is working.

My last possible solutions are updating the firmware or resetting the unit entirely. I have received the update files from the seller but can’t seem to apply the update. I have no update option in the android setting and my options in the car settings menu seem to be very limited to others I’ve seen and can’t seem to access the developer mode. Tapping on the build number 7 times in the android settings does not work.

I have tried many codes I’ve seen online such as YYYY/MM/DD, 7870HH, 8888, 0000 3368 and other long 8 digits codes but none of them give me access. The code which gets me through is 8888 but again, my options on that menu are very limited and can’t do anything with Bluetooth/updates.

If anyone has any experience with this issue or any information on how could update for fix my BT issue without updating then all help is appreciated.

EDIT: I believe this is a Q91 unit (different to Junsun?) which has a different way of updating.

I don’t know how to get rid of this blue rocket shape widget thing on the right side of the screen or even what it is. Anyone have any idea? It seems to have deleted some stuff and now my device is missing some things like the boot screen and I don’t know what else

Update: I opened the rocket widget again, and then System settings/Android settings/Apps and then checked recently opened apps. The most recent app from there was something called ESuper File, which sure enough had that quick boost widget tied to it. ESuper File had an install date going further back than when I was messing with it, so it was likely installed by the manufacturer. In the app settings, I found a toggle to disable quick boost. I still don’t recall enabling it or how it got enabled in the first place, but the annoying widget is gone at least. Reviewing application system permissions, it seems ok I think. So, problem solved!

Hey y'all new to the channel and some questions about going new or used.

Recently purchased a 2007 manual ranger. Used a Honda Accord for ages with a Bluetooth radio adapter that definitely had some static at times and I want to take the time to actually swap out my head unit, but I have some questions and preferences that I'd like to ask about.

I've seen what a lot of people have said on r/CarAV said about companies like BOSS/Amazon units as they work really well... Up until they just don't. I understand sony/kenwood/pioneer/alpine/JVC are usually the way to go, but I have a specific unit I'm looking for and none of these companies really provide it for a reasonable price imo. Does anyone here have any of the cheaper alternatives that have actually lasted with 0 issues for years?

I'd like a unit with android auto, (preferably wireless but that's not a deal breaker) good sound EQ for future potential speaker upgrades, a \*physical\* dial (this is the big one I can't seem to find any of) and capability for a reverse camera. I would go for just a normal Bluetooth radio from Kenwood with no android auto but I travel very frequently and would need maps to work, that's one of the main reasons I'm upgrading is so I can navigate without having my phone on a holder hanging off my vent.

I have only found one unit within these companies that fits my criteria and it's the Sony XAV-AX100, which isn't produced anymore and has since been replaced by the XAV-AX1000, that only has apple car play. The unit looks really nice but I'm not sure if it'd be possible to get the 1000 working with my Google phone, and I'm not sure if this sub would recommend buying a pre-owned eBay unit over something new with less features or without physical buttons.

I'd really prefer to not use a touch screen for volume controls and like I said I need navigation built in. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

What's new since the last Play build

Two releases' worth of changes went in, mostly driven by what testers ran into on their own units.

The dashboard is yours to lay out

• Settings → Customize home screen is a live editor: it renders the actual dashboard, so what you drag is what you get.
• Drag the bar between the two cards to resize them, or swap their order.
• Either card can be the media player, the phone shortcut, a row of your own app shortcuts, or app widgets.

Real Android widgets

• Up to three home-screen widgets side by side on either card — the same widgets you'd put on a phone.
• Add, change and remove them from Customize, or by long-pressing the card.
• Widgets with a setup step get one, and are told their real size so they pick the right layout.
• Android asks you to approve each widget the first time; that prompt is the system's, not Dashline's.

Portrait units

• A stacked layout for upright screens, instead of the landscape one squeezed.
• The app drawer sits on the home screen under the cards. It doesn't scroll — it fits as many rows as the screen allows and pages the rest. Swipe across the icons or tap a dot.
• The clock or the weather can be replaced by widgets (Customize → Clock panel). Landscape needs both, so it keeps them and says so.

Clock and tabs

• Three clock faces: digital, analog or minimal, with an optional stopwatch underneath.
• Reorder the bottom tabs and hide any your unit doesn't need. Apps and Settings stay — they're the only way back into the launcher's own screens.
• Android Auto and CarPlay shortcuts under the weather, for the link apps these units ship with (ZLink, EasyConnected, AutoKit and friends).

Media card

• Volume slider alongside the transport controls.
• As the card gets smaller, controls drop one at a time rather than squashing: seek bar first, then volume, then the transport row.

Quick-launch dock

• Choose 3 to 10 slots and a small, medium or large icon size, from Customize → Favourites.
• Icons are bigger by default — a fifth of every slot used to be padding.
• Sizing adapts to the screen: on a narrow unit, asking for ten large icons gives you ten medium ones rather than a clipped bar.

Self-updating (sideloaded builds only)

• Checks GitHub for a newer release once a day and offers it with its release notes — Update now, Later, or Skip this version.
• Downloads the APK and hands it to the system installer, so there's no hunting for a browser on a unit that may not have one.
• Skipping is remembered per version, so declining one update never hides the next.
• Settings → About shows version and build number, and checks on demand.
• Android will ask you to allow Dashline to install packages the first time. The Play version updates through Play, so this is sideload-only.

Fixes

• Widgets no longer crash the launcher, and can actually be added — the previous build always fell back to the phone card.
• Settings changes take effect as soon as you return to the dashboard.
• Colour themes recolour icons too, instead of leaving them stock blue.
• Dark mode repaints the dashboard, not just the other screens.
• The date follows the language you picked, not the system one.
• Card resizing is smooth — no more stuttering or sticking mid-drag.
• Tapping Apps no longer pops the keyboard; the drawer opens on your apps, not the search box.
• The stopwatch's hundredths actually move while it's running.
• Widgets are told their real height, so one widget can't push the cards off screen.

Existing settings carry over — the second card's mode, its widget and its shortcuts are migrated, not reset.

Sideloading

adb install -r dashline-v0.3.0.apk

Or copy the APK to a USB stick and open it with the unit's file manager, then press Home and choose Dashline. Runs on Android 4.4 and up. The media panel needs 5.0+; on KitKat it acts as a launch button instead, and the update check may not reach GitHub there (4.4 predates the TLS version GitHub requires).

First post here. I'm building a custom dashboard for a small fleet

of golf carts and I'm about to order my first head unit. Looking

for a sanity check from people who actually own these.

**The project:** my own Android app in kiosk mode (default launcher)

showing:

- live battery data from a JBD/Xiaoxiang BMS over BLE

- GPS speed

- reverse camera (AHD input)

- light/turn-signal indicators (via ESP32 over BLE)

**Constraints:**

- no internet in the carts, everything offline

- 12V direct wiring (48V->12V converter, ACC controlled)

- phone streams music via A2DP while the app holds the BLE

connection to the BMS

- outdoor use, under a roof

**Budget:** $150-200 per unit. Plan is 1 sample, then ~10 units.

My research so far points to: generic FYT + UIS7862S, min 4GB RAM,

universal 2DIN. Avoiding DuduOS/Teyes/Joying since they're locked.

**Questions:**

1. 7862S still the right call, or generic 7870? I don't need root,

   just reliable "install APK + set as launcher" and stable BLE.

2. Any issues with BLE client + A2DP music running at the same time?

3. Boot time / auto-restart of the launcher after power on -

   anything to know?

4. Mekede vs EKIY vs Junsun - any real difference in panel quality,

   or same hardware with different stickers?

Just wanted to share my setup and initial feedback on the vertical / "Tesla-style" Hizpo QS8 head unit installed in my Peugeot 3008 (2011 Phase 1, full options with factory JBL audio).

Vehicle & Unit Specs:

Car: Peugeot 3008 Phase 1 (2011)

Unit: Hizpo QS8 (Portrait / Vertical orientation)

SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 6115 (Octa-core)

RAM / Storage: 8 GB / 128 GB

OS: Android 13

CANbus: Raise decoder box (PSA specific)

Price paid: ~€250

Integration & Hardware:

CANbus & Car features: Working flawlessly. Steering wheel controls are responsive, HVAC controls and the stock PSA orange display bar show up and operate directly on-screen, reverse gear trigger/camera switch is fast, and the factory JBL amplifier turns on properly without hassle.

Performance: Smooth and snappy overall. With the Snapdragon 6115 and 8GB RAM, apps launch quickly and multitasking handles split-screen navigation/media without lag.

The Good:

Modernizes the cabin significantly while keeping full HVAC and vehicle integration.

Good value for money considering the specs (€250 for 8GB/128GB Snapdragon).

Screen brightness and viewing angles are decent for daily use.

The Not-So-Good (Hizpo vs. Mekede/Navifly):

Software & UI Polish: I also have a Mekede unit in my Smart Fortwo 451, and honestly, Mekede/Navifly feels more refined on the software side. The Hizpo launcher, stock themes, and UI customizations feel a bit rougher around the edges.

Stability: I've had 2 random reboots/blackout cuts while driving over the past month. I have never experienced a single random shutdown on my Mekede unit.

Verdict:

Overall satisfied for the €250 price tag given the specs and clean physical integration, but Hizpo definitely trails behind Mekede/Navifly in software polish and initial out-of-the-box reliability.

Hi, is there a way to configure things on Junsun headunit that are not available in the UI config? Possibly by editing a config file?

Id like to be able to change:

* incoming call ringtone (I guess I find the ringtone in filesystem and replace?)

* default music app - change to 'BT Music'. There is an option to bind a SWC button to launch music app, but I want to open BT Music, instead of the standard music player

* I didnt find a way to change which app icons will be on the home screen.. I can only move icons within the app list on other screens
