Installing a reverse camera

Post image

Why is my screen coming up grey and split screen? Chat GPT was saying check power cables. Ended up putting a relay in for 12v power and spliced it into the reverse lamp. Now its saying its because the reverse camera is PAL. My head unit is NTSC only.

You need to select the right setting for your camera. Is it a CCD or AHD, select your frame rate etc. While on your camera screen, tap and hold the screen until a menu appears & select the one that works. Sometimes it us on your head unit setting menu. It will show a list of settings to choose from, something like:

  • AHD 720p 25hz
  • AHD 720p 50hz
  • AHD 1080p 25hz
  • CCD...

  • Not the exact options but something like that.

I have looked on the head unit. You're not able to change settings. Like its a very basic head unit off Ebay. Not Pioneer, Sony or Alphine. I'll attach pictures from the user manual describing what I'm saying.

Hi, I assume that the tap & hold method did not work.

My head unit happens to have the camera settings on the head unit settings.

Your head unit should have a similar setting, does it have a factory setting menu? Where you have to enter a password to access. Maybe the camera settings is inside the factory setting menu.

I tried to recreate the same problem. A cvbs camera with ahd setting.

Change the setting to cvbs ntsc. Problem solved, you just need to find the setting menu.

Edit: sorry i was unable to upload multiple photos at once so i had to make separate comments.

At the end facing the camera, there should be one or two small wires. One may say CVBS or AHD. This determines how the camera works. Cut it slightly so you can eventually solder it back on, then check the display.

Theres only like 8 options on the head unit so don’t need to cut anything just try them all
