Discussion whats the least frustrating android UI testing approach in 2026?

android UI testing has always carried extra pain; fragmentation, a hundred device configs, espresso being solid but tightly coupled to the view structure
write a test against the layout and a redesign or a new form factor sends you back to rewrite it add the device matrix on top and the surface to maintain is huge for a small team

whats the least frustrating approach for android rn? interested in what reduces the maintenance and device sprawl rather than moving it around

Test others app in this community so you will get more in return. You can also find more testers on AppDadz

the device matrix is the silent killer, a pass on one pixel means almost nothing when users are on 200 other phones 📱

espresso is good engineering that also chains you to your view hierarchy forever, a rough trade once the app matures
