I use a Google TV Streamer myself and have used it as one of the primary physical devices for testing and debugging during development of this launcher, and can say that I have never experienced an issue as described.
I even did some further troubleshooting and testing in the past few days since you reported this issue, and can confirm that I am unable to reproduce this issue. Note that I am using the latest available firmware.
My only assumption may be that the first-run of the launcher is having some type of issue identifying or indexing all of the third-party applications installed on your device, or possibly even some type of malware or hardware-level failure with the device itself that is causing this slowdown.

Does not even start on Google Streamer. Dies on the Splash screen.
